Vehicular Tire Monitoring Based on Sensed Acceleration
First Claim
1. A vehicle, comprising:
- at least one wheel, each of said at least one wheel including;
a rim;
a tire mounted on said rim;
a sensor system arranged on or inside said tire for sensing at least one of angular, radial, tangential and lateral acceleration of said tire and providing acceleration signals based on the sensed acceleration; and
an antenna arranged on said rim or said tire and coupled to said sensor system for communicating data about the sensed acceleration; and
a processor arranged to receive acceleration signals provided by said sensor system and determine the existence of an anomaly in said tire based on the sensed acceleration.

Abstract
Vehicle with tire monitoring capabilities includes at least one wheel, each including a rim, a tire mounted on the rim, a sensor system for sensing angular, radial, tangential and/or lateral acceleration of the tire and providing acceleration signals based thereon, and an antenna arranged on the rim or tire and coupled to the sensor system for communicating data about the sensed acceleration. A processor receives acceleration signals provided by the sensor system and determines the existence of an anomaly in the tire based thereon. When arranged on the wheel, the processor provides a signal indicative or representative of the determination of the existence of the anomaly via the antenna to a receiving antenna which conveys it to a reactive system. The reactive system may provide a visual and/or audible warning to the driver of the vehicle or to personnel at a vehicle or tire monitoring facility.

20. A vehicle comprising:
-
a processing unit; and
a plurality of wheels, each of said wheels including a rim, a tire mounted on said tire, a sensor system for sensing at least one property of said tire and tangential or radial acceleration of said tire, and a communications system for wirelessly communicating the at least one property of said tire and the tangential or radial acceleration to said processing unit;
said processing unit being arranged to determine a location of each of said tires on the vehicle based in part on the sensed tangential or radial acceleration communicated from said communications system on each of said wheels and thereby associate the location of said tires with the sensed at least one property of said tires. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22)
