Abstract

A system for providing telecommunications equipment information and customer information that includes a display and a processor. The display displays a graphical user interface that allows a user to access the equipment information and the customer information. The graphical user interface includes at least one input area that allows a user to input search criteria, related to at least one of equipment data and customer data, to initiate a search. The graphical user interface also includes at least one results area that displays a result of the search, the result including at least one of the equipment information and the customer information related to the search criteria. The processor implements the search for at least one of the equipment information and the customer information in response to the input search criteria.

Claims

1. A method for providing networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, the method comprising:

displaying a graphical user interface having at least one area in which a user may enter search criteria, the search criteria related to at least one of equipment data and user data, to initiate a search of the networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, and having at least one area that displays a result of the search, the result comprising at least one of the networked equipment information and the information of network users associated with networked equipment related to the search criteria,

wherein a database is accessed to retrieve the networked equipment information and the information of network users.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein a processor performs the search for the at least one of the networked equipment information and the information of network users associated with networked equipment in response to the entered search criteria.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the database comprises:

a network and services database; and

a data propagator between the network and services database and the processor.

4. The method according to claim 1, wherein the graphical user interface displays a plurality of equipment types and allows selection of one of the equipment types and a search for the networked equipment information and the information of network users based on the selected equipment type.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein one of the equipment types includes SONET equipment, the graphical user interface displaying SONET networked equipment as the result when SONET equipment data is entered as the search criteria.

6. The method according to claim 4, wherein one of the equipment types includes circuit equipment, the graphical user interface displaying circuit networked equipment information as the result when circuit data is entered as the search criteria.

7. The method according to claim 1, further comprising displaying a main menu having options of selecting at least one of a circuit/facility module and a SONET module.

8. The method according to claim 7, further comprising displaying a circuit/facility module sub-menu when the user selects the circuit/facility module from the main menu.

9. The method according to claim 7, further comprising displaying a SONET module sub-menu when the user selects the SONET module from the main menu.

10. The method according to claim 7, further comprising displaying a sub-menu having options of selecting at least one of carrier circuit, facility re-route, cable, and network user.

11. The method according to claim 7, further comprising displaying a sub-menu having options of selecting at least one of carrier circuit id, message circuit id, special circuit id, telephone circuit id, CAC, cable, order number, CLO, SCID, TID, and rack.

12. The method according to claim 8, the displaying the result further comprising displaying a carrier circuit hierarchy if the user selects view hierarchy report from a carrier circuit selection output display after selection of carrier circuit from the sub-menu.

13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the carrier circuit hierarchy is displayed in a tree view.

14. The method according to claim 12, wherein the carrier circuit hierarchy is displayed in a table format.

15. The method according to claim 12, wherein a selectable option is displayed so that the user may view a hierarchy of carriers on which a particular circuit rides.

16. The method according to claim 12, wherein a selectable option is displayed so that the user may select an option to view a hierarchy of channels that ride on a particular circuit.

17. The method according to claim 12, the displaying the result further comprising an option to allow the user to drill down on circuit information to obtain information at a higher level.

18. The method according to claim 12, the displaying the result further comprising an option to allow the user to drill down on network user information to obtain information at a higher level.

19. A method for providing networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, the method comprising:

displaying a graphical user interface having at least one area in which a user may enter search criteria, the search criteria related to at least one of equipment data and user data associated with a synchronous optical network, to initiate a search of the networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, and having at least one area that displays a result of the search, the result comprising at least one of the networked equipment information and the information of network users associated with networked equipment related to the search criteria,

wherein a database is accessed to retrieve the networked equipment information and the information of network users.

20. A method for providing networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, the method comprising:

displaying a graphical user interface having at least one area in which a user may enter search criteria, the search criteria related to at least one of equipment data and user data, to initiate a search of the networked equipment information and information of network users associated with networked equipment, and having at least one area that displays a result of the search, the result comprising at least one of the networked equipment information and the information of network users associated with networked equipment related to the search criteria,

wherein when the user data is entered as the search criteria, the graphical user interface displays information of network users as the result, and when equipment data is entered as the search criteria, the graphical user interface displays networked equipment information as the result, and

wherein a database is accessed to retrieve the networked equipment information and the information of network users.
