Abstract

This invention satisfies a need for surveillance of any fixed or mobile location from a 4G wireless terminal or cellular telephone equipped to view video. The surveillance device consists of digital video cameras, microphones and alarms interfacing a control unit which has the ability to time stamp and store all camera outputs on a storage device, recognize alarms, send alarm status to a remote wireless user, receive wireless calls from the remote user and act on remote commands to transmit any camera output occurring during a time period selected by the remote user. The latter will enable the remote user to document video and sound for a time interval of interest. Video and sound of this time interval may be placed in permanent storage for transfer to a portable video medium.

This invention will employ the new 4G wireless network to allow a wireless terminal or telephone equipped with a video display to select the proper bandwidth needed to receive streaming video and sound from the remote surveillance device.

Claims

1. This device will allow remote surveillance of any location via a remote wireless or cellular telephone by means of multiple digital video cameras trained on areas of interest.

1.a Referring to claim 1, the device will allow output of any camera to be selected and displayed by means of commands from a remote wireless communication terminal or wireless telephone

1.b Referring to claim 1, the cameras will be running continuously and their outputs stored for retrieval by the remote user.

1.c Referring to claim 1, the remote user may select and store video from any camera involving any elapsed time period of interest.

2. This device will employ alarm inputs to notify the remote user of an alarm status and location.

2.a Referring to claim 2, the device will format and send a text message to the remote user'"'"'s wireless terminal informing him of an alarm condition and location.

3. The device may be employed in surveillance and/or alarm functions in various locations such as fixed locations which may include a home;

outside surroundings;

a business;

a street location; and

mobile locations such as automobiles, trucks, trains and aircraft.

3.a Referring to claim 3, mobile locations may include motor vehicles, trans and other mobile locations. Employment of the device in vehicles will allow video recording of events triggered by alarm sensors, such as impact sensors and entry alarms, to be sent to a remote user. Recording an interval of activity before and after an alarm status is recognized will allow accurate accident reconstruction or identification of criminal perpetrators.

3.b Referring to claim 3, video from any mobile location may be obtained at any time through initiation of a request from the remote wireless user.

4. This surveillance system is usable in any location, fixed or mobile, which has a source of system power.

4.a Referring to claim 4, with the exception of the need for a power source, the system is completely self-contained and has no need for transit of or data storage in other systems such as the Internet.
