A device for measurement of cardiac output comprising a probe configured to be positioned within vasculature of a patient, said probe comprising an elongate body and a plurality of electrical components, said plurality of electrical components comprising an energy producing element and a temperature sensing element, said elongate body comprising a plurality of electrical lead wires configured to transmit electric current to said electrical components and at least one insulation layer configured to electrically insulate said plurality of lead wires from one another, wherein a cross-sectional size of said elongate body is generally equal to a combination of the cross-sectional size of said plurality of lead wires and a cross-sectional size of said at least one insulation layer.
