Abstract

A data processing apparatus is disclosed which includes a reproducing element for reproducing each of a plurality of content data items a reproduction status detecting element for detecting status of each content data item being reproduced by the reproducing element a selecting element for selecting the content data item being reproduced by the reproducing element depending on the reproduction status of the content data item detected by the reproduction status detecting element a content identification data generating element for generating content identification data for identifying the content data item selected by the selecting element from the plurality of content data items and a transmitting element for transmitting to a second data processing apparatus the content identification data generated by the content identification data generating element.

Claims

1. A device operable to exchange a list of content data items wirelessly, said device comprising:

a communication unit configured to communicate to at least one other device; and

a control unit configured to exchange a list of content data items with said other device when said other device is in a communicable area of said device.

2. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit starts to exchange the list of content data items with said other device when said control unit detects that said other device has come into the communicable area.

3. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit exchanges lists of content data items with a plurality of other devices in a communicable area of said device.

4. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit exchanges the list of content data items and content data items with the other device.

5. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit is operable to detect a third device in a communicable area of said other device.

6. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit limits a number of hops to communicate with said other device.

7. The device according to claim 1, wherein said control unit is operable to detect that said other device has entered the communicable area of said device.

8. The device according to claim 1, wherein said content data item is a tune.

9. The device according to claim 8, wherein said tune is an MP3 file.

10. The device according to claim 8, further comprising a reproducing unit configured to reproduce a tune, and wherein said control unit controls said reproducing unit to reproduce a tune on said list of content data items, the tune having been received from said other device.

11. A method of exchanging a list of content data items wirelessly, said method comprising steps of:

wirelessly detecting, by a content data item exchanging device, at least one other device in a communicable area; and

exchanging, by the content data item exchanging device, a list of content data items with said other device when said other device is in the communicable area of said device.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of exchanging starts when said content data item exchanging device detects that said other device has come into the communicable area.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein said content data item exchanging device exchanges lists of content data items with a plurality of other devices in a communicable area of said content data item exchanging device.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein said content data item exchanging device exchanges the list of content data items and content data items with said other device.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein said content data item exchanging device detects at least a third device in a communicable area of said other device.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein said content data item exchanging device limits a number of hops to communicate with said other device.

17. The method of claim 11, wherein said content data item is a tune.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein said tune is an MP3 file.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising steps of:

receiving, by said content data item exchanging device, a tune from said other device; and

reproducing, by said content data item exchanging device, said tune on said list of content data items.

20. A system wherein information is exchanged between devices in ad-hoc network, said system comprising:

a first device comprising;

a communication unit configured to communicate to at least one other device;

a control unit configured to transfer a first list of content data items to a second device and receive a second list of content data items from said second device when the second device is in a communicable area of said first device; and

a second device comprising;

a communication unit configured to communicate with said first device;

a control unit configured to transfer said second list of content data items to said first device and to receive said first list of content data items when the second device is in a communicable area of said first device.

21. The system according to claim 20, wherein said first device control unit is further configured to start exchanging the list of content data items with said second device when said first device control unit detects that said second device has come into the communicable area.

22. The system according to claim 20, wherein said first device control unit is further configured to exchange lists of content data items with a plurality of other devices in a communicable area of said device.

23. The system according to claim 20, wherein said first device control unit is further configured to exchange the list of content data items and content data items with the second device.

24. The system according to claim 20, further comprising a third device, and wherein said first device control unit is further configured to detect the third device in a communicable area of said second device.

25. The system according to claim 20, wherein said first device control unit limits a number of hops to communicate with said other device.

26. The system according to claim 20, wherein said first device control unit is operable to detect that said second device has entered the communicable area of said first device.

27. The system according to claim 20, wherein said content data item is a tune.

28. The system according to claim 27, wherein said tune is an MP3 file.

29. The system according to claim 27, wherein the first device further comprises a reproducing unit configured to reproduce the tune, and wherein said first device control unit controls said reproducing unit to reproduce a tune on said list of content data items, the tune having been received from said second device.
