Abstract

Provided are animal containment systems and components, including single-use animal containment cages and modular rack units. Also provided are methods for assembling and using components of the animal containment systems.

Claims

1. A rodent containment cage food tray comprising walls, a bottom and apertures, wherein the walls and bottom are constructed from a polymer.

2. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein the wall or walls and bottom are of a thickness of about 0.03 inches to about 0.05 inches.

3. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein the food tray is single-use.

4. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein the polymer is polystyrene.

5. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein the polymer is substantially hard.

6. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein the apertures are surrounded by a rib of material thicker than the walls and bottom.

7. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, which further comprises a flange co-extensive with the top edge of at least one wall.

8. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, which further comprises one or more tabs sharing an edge with a wall.

9. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein one or more walls contain one or more bevels.

10. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 1, wherein one or more junctions at one or more walls and the bottom of the food tray are rounded junctions.

11. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 10, wherein the rounded junctions are defined by a radius of about 0.25 inches or greater.

12. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 10, wherein the rounded junctions are defined by a radius of 0.30 inches or greater.

13. The rodent containment cage food tray of claim 10, wherein the rounded junctions are defined by a radius of about 0.25 inches to about 0.50 inches.
