Abstract

A method is performed by first and second mobile wireless communication devices used respectively by first and second users. In the method, a first user selects, on the first device, a first task for the first user to perform. The first device sends to the second device a request to link the first task to a second task to be performed by the second user. The second device sends to the first device, in response to the second task being completed, a notification to the first device.

Claims

1. A method performed by first and second mobile wireless communication devices used respectively by first and second users, comprising:

i) selecting, by the first user on the first device, a first task for the first user to perform;

ii) sending, by the first device to the second device, a request to link the first task to a second task to be performed by the second user; and

iii) sending, by the second device to the first device, in response to the second task being completed, a notification to the first device.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising, before step i:

selecting, by the first user, the second device from a contact list on the first device.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein, in step i, the first user selects the first task from among a list of tasks residing on the first device.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein the list of tasks is in a calendar application on the first device.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising between steps ii and iii:

sending, by the second device to the first device, an acceptance to the request to link the tasks.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising between steps ii and iii:

iv) selecting, by the second user on the second device, the second task.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein, in step iv, the user selects the second task from among a list of tasks residing on the second device.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein the list of tasks is in a calendar application on the second device.

9. The method of claim 6 further comprising between steps iv and iii:

sending, by the second device to the first device, a response detailing the second task.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the notification in step iii is in an email from the second device to the first device.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein, in step iii, the response is sent by the second device to the first device when a preset amount of time has elapsed from the task being completed.

12. The method of claim 1 further comprising after step iii:

providing to the first user, by the first device upon receiving the notification, a reminder to perform the first task.

13. A first mobile wireless communication device comprising:

means for a first user to select, on the first device, a first task for the first user to perform;

means for sending to a second wireless communication device a request to link the first task to a second task to be performed by a second user using the second device;

means for receiving a notification from the second device in response to the second task being completed; and

means for presenting to the first user a reminder to perform the first task.

14. The device of claim 13 wherein the means for the first user to select is configured for the first user to select the first task from a list of tasks on the first device.

15. The device of claim 13 further comprising:

means for enabling the first user to select the second device from a among a list of contacts located on the first device.

16. The device of claim 13 further comprising:

means for receiving from the second device a request to link a third task to be performed by the second user to a fourth task to be performed by the first user; and

means for sending, in response to the fourth task being completed, a notification to the second device.

17. Software residing on first and second mobile wireless communication devices with respective first and second users, and executable on the devices to perform the steps of:

inputting from the first user into the first device a first task for the first user to perform, from among a list of tasks residing on the first device;

inputting from the first user into the first device, an identification of the second device from among a contact list residing on the first device;

sending, from the first device to the second device, a request to link the first task to a second task to be performed by the second user;

inputting, from the second user into the second device, the second task;

sending, from the second device to the first device, an acceptance to the request to link the tasks;

sending, from the second device to the first device, in response to the second task being completed, a notification to the first device; and

providing to the first user, by the first device in response to receiving the notification, a reminder to perform the first task.

18. The software of claim 17 being capable of geographical mapping for determining the geographic location of the second device.
