Abstract

Methods and apparatuses to provide services to transfer funds to an automatically identified account. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving a communication at a communication reference assigned to a first entity, the communication instructing an amount of funds and an account from which the funds are to be transferred; identifying an account of the first entity based on the communication reference; and transferring the amount of funds to the account of the first entity.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a communication at a communication reference assigned to a first entity, the communication instructing an amount of funds and an account from which the funds are to be transferred;

identifying an account of the first entity based on the communication reference; and

transferring the amount of funds to the account of the first entity.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the communication reference comprises a telephone number.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein said identifying comprises:

a system automatically identifying the account of the first entity based on the communication reference.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein said receiving comprises:

the system receiving the communication at the communication reference assigned to the first entity.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said transferring comprises:

the system automatically transferring the amount of funds to the account of the first entity.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a request from a second entity for a communication connection with the first entity at the communication reference;

determining contact information of the first entity based on the communication reference; and

establishing the communication connection between the first entity and the second entity using the contact information.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the communication reference comprises a telephone number for a circuit switched telephonic system and a telephone extension number.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the communication reference comprises a telephonic identifier for a packet switched telephonic system.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

confirming for said transferring that the communication is from the first entity.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein said confirming comprises:

confirming a telephone number from which the communication is initiated is associated with the first entity.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

confirming for said transferring that a callback telephone number received in the communication is associated with the first entity.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the account from which the funds are to be transferred is a credit card account which belongs to a second entity.

13. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

authenticating for said transferring that a communicator of the communication is an agent of the first entity.

14. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

establishing a telephonic connection between the communicator and the first entity, responsive to authenticating that the communicator of the communication is not an agent of the first entity.

15. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

authenticating a communicator of the communication;

presenting an option to transfer funds to the account of the first entity.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein said presenting further comprises:

presenting the option to be selectable independent of an identity of the communicator.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein said authenticating comprises:

authenticating the communicator via at least one of;

a communication reference identifying an owner or registered user of a communication device used to initiate the communication, and a personal identification number of the communicator received in the communication.

18. The method of claim 1, wherein the amount of funds is transferred to the account of the first entity without authenticating an identity of a requester of the transferring of funds.

19. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing a communication connection between a customer and the first entity via the communication reference;

wherein the communication is received from the customer or the first entity.

20. A machine readable media embodying instructions, the instructions causing a machine to perform a method, the method comprising:

receiving a communication at a communication reference assigned to a first entity, the communication instructing an amount of funds and an account from which the funds are to be transferred;

identifying an account of the first entity based on the communication reference; and

transferring the amount of funds to the account of the first entity.

21. A data processing system, comprising:

means for receiving a communication at a communication reference assigned to a first entity, the communication instructing an amount of funds and an account from which the funds are to be transferred;

means for identifying an account of the first entity based on the communication reference; and

means for transferring the amount of funds to the account of the first entity.

22. A method, comprising:

assigning a first telephone number of a server to an entity;

establishing a telephonic connection between the server at the first telephone number and a caller of the telephonic connection;

identifying whether the caller identifiable as the entity;

if the caller is identified as the entity,

identifying an account of the entity based on the first telephone number assigned to the entity,

receiving information specifying an amount of funds and a credit card account over the telephonic connection, and

transferring the amount of funds from the credit card account to the account of the entity; and

if the caller is not identified as the entity,

determining a second telephone number of the entity based on the first telephone number assigned to the entity, and

connecting the caller to the entity at the second telephone number for a paid conversation over a telephonic connection.
