1. A method for performing arthroplasty on a joint using a surgical navigation system, the method including the steps of:
- locating articular anatomical structures using the surgical navigation system;
determining biomechanical properties of the joint;
evaluating the soft tissue envelope properties for the joint;
displaying an interactive view of the joint, the soft tissue envelope properties, the biomechanical properties and a chosen implant to enable a surgeon to manipulate simultaneously the soft tissue envelope properties, the biomechanical properties and the chosen implant on the interactive view;
preparing the joint to receive the chosen implants; and
installing the implants in the prepared joint.
