1. A method for facilitating healing of a tissue defect residing in an area of tissue, comprising:
- providing a stent comprising an elongate body having a first end, a second end, and a length, said elongate body configured to allow passage of fluid therethrough;
inserting the stent into the area of tissue; and
positioning the stent so that a vascular area of tissue is accessible by the stent and the second end of the stent terminates adjacent to the tissue defect, whereby biological material from the vascular area of tissue travels through the stent to the tissue defect to facilitate healing the tissue defect.

-
an elongate body formed of a bioabsorbable material, said elongate body comprising;
a first end;
a second end;
an exterior surface, said elongate body having an outer diameter and a length, said elongate body comprising a hollow tube which is open at both the first end and the second end of the elongate body to define end apertures, whereby said elongate body allows passage of fluid therethrough, said elongate body formed of a material of sufficient rigidity so that the elongate body is at least as stiff as meniscal tissue, a wall forming the hollow tube;
