Abstract

The present invention system and method facilitates efficient and accurate maintenance of LERG information. The present system and method periodic implementation of LERG downloads permits network devices to automatically update LERG information. A local exchange routing guide update method includes performing an automated LERG maintenance initialization process; engaging in an automated LERG parsing process; and executing an automated LERG synchronization process.

Claims

1. A local exchange routing guide update method comprising:

performing an automated LERG maintenance initialization process;

engaging in an automated LERG parsing process; and

executing an automated LERG synchronization process.

2. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein said LERG maintenance initialization process comprises:

deploying LERG information for installation;

establishing correlations between received LERG configured information and end user configured information; and

establishing connection and scheduling information.

3. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein said LERG maintenance initialization process produces XML configuration files containing mapping information, database configurations and scheduling information.

4. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 copies of a generated XML configuration file are utilized for one time mapping.

5. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein a copy of said XML configuration file is stored in an install poll directory and a LERG poling process forwards the XML configuration file for parsing.

6. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 further comprising creating an update report.

7. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein LERG mapping objects are constructed when said files are parsed.

8. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 7 wherein said mapping objects include database connection objects for utilization in database synchronization and schedule objects for utilization in scheduling LERG maintenance updates and implementing a LERG database synchronization at the specified schedule time.

9. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein said LERG data is parsed based on said mapping objects supplied by the LERG parsing process and a connection is established connection with an end-user database and an update process is performed.

10. A local exchange routing guide update method of claim 1 wherein said LERG maintenance initialization process comprises:

coping an interested LERG data file into an install directory;

mapping LERG columns from the LERG data file to end user specific tables and columns; and

receiving database connection information and scheduling information, wherein said scheduling information includes an indication of when synchronization is performed.

11. A computer readable medium for storing computer readable code including instruction for directing a processor in the performance of a local exchange routing guide update process comprising:

performing an automated LERG maintenance initialization process;

engaging in an automated LERG parsing process; and

executing an automated LERG synchronization process.

12. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein said LERG maintenance initialization process comprises:

deploying LERG information for installation, establishing correlations between received LERG configured information and end user configured information; and

establishing connection and scheduling information.

13. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein said LERG maintenance initialization process produces XML configuration files containing mapping information, database configurations and scheduling information.

14. A computer readable medium of claim 11 copies of a generated XML configuration file are utilized for one time mapping.

15. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein a copy of said XML configuration file is stored in an install poll directory and a LERG poling process forwards the XML configuration file for parsing.

16. A computer readable medium of claim 11 further comprising creating an update report.

17. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein LERG mapping objects are constructed when said files are parsed.

18. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein said mapping objects include database connection objects for utilization in database synchronization and schedule objects for utilization in scheduling LERG maintenance updates and implementing a LERG database synchronization at the specified schedule time.

19. A computer readable medium of claim 11 wherein said LERG data is parsed based on said mapping objects supplied by the LERG parsing process and a connection is established connection with an end-user database and an update process is performed.

20. An automated LERG update maintenance device comprising:

a means for receiving communication packets;

a means for selectively forwarding said communication packets to downstream devices based upon automatically updated LERG information; and

a controller component for controlling said selective forwarding and automatically updating LERG information.
