Abstract

According to this invention, a novel anti-oxidative substance of naturally originated, with excellent ability to scavenge active oxygen species and high safety was provided. According to the present invention, citrulline was firstly exhibited to have excellent ability to scavenge active oxygen species. A novel active oxygen scavenging composition including citrulline as its effective ingredient was characterized by its excellent ability to scavenge active oxygen and high safety.

Claims

1. A method to prevent active oxygen injury in a cell, the method comprising addition of citrulline to decrease active oxygen content.

2. The method according to claim 1 wherein citrulline is utilized at a effective concentration range from 10 mM to 1000 mM.

3. The method according to claim 1 wherein citrulline is utilized at a effective concentration range from 50 mM to 400 mM.

4. The method according to claim 1 wherein abscission of DNA is inhibited by addition of citrulline.

5. An active oxygen scavenging composition including citrulline wherein said composition scavenges active oxygen in a cell.

6. A medical composition comprising citrulline having effect to scavenge active oxygen in a cell.

7. The medical composition according to claim 6, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 10 mM to 1000 mM.

8. The medical composition according to claim 6, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 50 mM to 400 mM.

9. A food additive composition comprising citrulline having effect to scavenge active oxygen in a cell.

10. The food additive composition according to claim 9, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 10 mM to 1000 mM.

11. The food additive composition according to claim 9, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 50 mM to 400 mM.

12. A cosmetic composition comprising citrulline having effect to scavenge active oxygen in a cell.

13. The cosmetic composition according to claim 12, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 10 mM to 1000 mM.

14. The cosmetic composition according to claim 12, wherein citrulline is used as its effective ingredient and its effective concentration range is from 50 mM to 400 mM.
