Abstract

A Proximity Locator System for individuals includes a credit card size card which is carried in an individual'"'"'s wallet. The card is provided with a wireless communication device which is used in conjunction with a locating device to locate an individual. This may be utilized to locate individuals lost at sea, in an avalanche, or under the debris of a fallen building. The communication device on the card may be solar powered or activated by a RF signal from the locator device. The card does not require a battery to power the communication device. Therefore it may be carried by and individual and activated at any time. In this manner it is fully operational when someone is attempting to locate the card. The card also contains a smart chip with vital information about the individual which can be accessed by individuals with different authority levels.

Claims

1. A system for locating and interrogating an individual comprising;

a transmitting device, said transmitting device including an antenna and an information storage device, said antenna and said information storage device being integrally formed together;

at least one receiving device, each said receiving device operable to receive signals transmitted from said transmitting device and provide data relative to the location thereof; and

a reader adapted to communicate with said information storage device whereby interrogation of information stored on said transmitting device is enabled.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said transmitting device includes a substrate onto which said antenna and said information storage device are integrally formed.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein said substrate is dimensioned so as to be readily carried by an individual.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said receiver device is constructed and arranged to both receive and transmit signals.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein said receiving device is positioned on a vehicle.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein said vehicle is an aircraft.

7. The system of claim 5, wherein said vehicle is an automobile.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein passive interrogation of information stored on said transmitting device is enabled by said reader.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein active interrogation of information stored on said transmitting device is enabled by said reader.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein said reader includes a slot on one end portion thereof,

a display and an information input device;

said slot being constructed and arranged to receive said transmitting device whereby interrogation of information on said transmitting device is enabled.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein said reader includes two slots, at least one of said slots located on an end portion thereof, a display screen and an information input device;

said slots being constructed and arranged to receive said transmitting device and another source of information whereby interrogation of information stored on said transmitting device is enabled.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein said information input device enables active interrogation of said information stored on said transmitting device by said reader.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein said transmitting device includes a power source thereon.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein said power source includes solar cells.

16. The system of claim 1, wherein said transmitting device is activated by a signal transmitted from said receiving device.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein said signal is harmonic resonance radar.
