Abstract

A method for handling call originations is provided. The method includes sending origination information from a mobile device to an application server in an enterprise network using Short Message Service (SMS) and determining whether a hotline feature is present in a subscriber profile associated with the mobile device. Data is then routed from the mobile device to a predetermined destination based on the hotline feature.

Claims

1. A method for handling call originations comprising:

determining whether a hotline feature is present in a subscriber profile associated with the mobile device;

sending origination information from a mobile device to an application server in an enterprise network using a mobile data connection service; and

routing a voice call from the mobile device to a predetermined destination based on the hotline feature.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein a second voice call is originated by the application server to a final destination based on the origination information previously received from the mobile device, and the second voice call is joined to the first call.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein routing of the voice call from the mobile device to a predetermined destination comprises routing using VoIP.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein routing of the voice call from the mobile device to a predetermined destination comprises routing using a PSTN.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the user can execute a service during a voice call by sending mid-call information from the mobile device to the application server.

6. The method of claim 1 comprising capturing the originating information at the mobile device using a mobile device client configured to send the originating information to the application server.

7. The method of claim 1 comprising capturing the originating information at the mobile device wherein the mobile device is configured to send the originating information to the application server via the mobile data connection service in advance of setting up the voice call.

8. The method of claim 1 comprising capturing mid-call information at the mobile device wherein the mobile device is configured to send the mid-call information to the application server via the mobile data connection service while the call remains in progress.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the mobile data connection service is Short Message Service or Unstructured Supplementary Services Data.

10. A method for handling call originations comprising:

sending origination information including destination device data from a mobile device to an application server in an enterprise network using a mobile data connection service;

originating a first voice call from an application server to the destination device using the destination data received;

originating a second voice call from an application server to the mobile device; and

joining the first voice call with the second voice call.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein the mobile device is configured to automatically answer the incoming call from the application server without generating a ringing tone.

12. The method of claim 10 wherein sending the origination information comprises using over-the-air messages.

13. The method of claim 10 wherein a user can execute a service during the first voice call by sending mid-call information from the mobile device to the application server.

14. The method of claim 10 wherein sending the origination information comprises routing originating calls based on a subscriber profile or assigned telephone number to specific routes or trunk groups within a mobile switching center (MSC).

15. The method of claim 14 further comprising:

capturing the mobile device and the destination device data at a gateway server;

analyzing route data using the gateway server; and

routing the first voice call to an intermediary destination in the control of the gateway server from which the call is then routed to the destination device.

16. The method of claim 15 wherein routing the first voice call to the intermediary destination comprises routing using VoIP.

17. The method of claim 15 wherein routing the first voice call to the intermediary destination comprises routing using a PSTN.

18. The method of claim 10 wherein the mobile data connection service is Short Message Service or Unstructured Supplementary Services Data.
