1. A computer-based system for presenting an information display screen, comprising:
- means for accessing a plurality of information sources;
means for generating the information display screen, the information display screen including a control, having a function associated therewith and including at least one status indicator for the control, the status indicator being associated with a status indicator threshold;
means for selectively activating said status indicator based on information located in one of said information sources and the status indicator threshold; and
means responsive to the selectively activated status indicator for invoking the function control on said display screen upon activation of the control to report information from the data sources in successive, differing levels of detail in accordance with user input.

Abstract
A system and method for information display based on a family of display screens for displaying information derived from numerous data sources. Each display screen includes function controls as well as indicator controls. The function controls link a first level display screen to subsidiary display screens. A capacity is provided for saving defined display screen formats and for generating a custom display screen based on function controls which were previously defined in defined display screens. Also disclosed is a method of using a family of display screens for managing access to information and displaying that information.

20. A computer-implemented method, comprising:
-
presenting an information display screen, the information display screen including a control and a monitoring function associated with the control, a display function invoked upon selection of the control, and a status indicator for that which is being monitored by the monitoring function;
displaying a set of information upon selection of the control and invocation of the display function, the information including an indicator and a second display function invoked upon selection of the indicator;
executing the monitoring function;
changing a visual attribute of the status indicator when the monitoring function determines that a monitored attribute exceeds a status indicator threshold;
presenting additional levels of detail regarding that which is being monitored by the monitoring function upon selection of the indicator and invocation of the second display function responsive to the changed visual attribute. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23, 24, 25)
