Abstract

A method and related system obtains consent from an individual for computer-aided delivery of compliance information. Initially, a computer-readable data storage device is provided to the individual. The device stores the compliance information and computer-executable instructions. By inserting the device into a computer, the instructions are executed and the individual is prompted by the computer to consent to the computer-aided delivery of additional compliance information. Once consent is indicated, it is communicated from the individual'"'"'s computer to another computer such as a server over, for example, a modem connection. Having secured the individual'"'"'s consent, the additional compliance information can be delivered to the individual'"'"'s computer as, for example, a file attachment to an email message.

Claims

1. A computer program product comprising:

a computer readable medium;

computer program instructions on the computer-readable medium, wherein the computer program instructions, when executed by a computer, direct the computer to perform a method of obtaining consent to electronically send information to a user, the method comprising;

receiving consent from the user.

2. The computer program product of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises directing the computer to send the consent to a second computer.

3. The computer program product of claim 2 wherein the sending occurs over a computer communications link.

4. The computer program product of claim 1 wherein the computer program product further comprises instructions for providing access to the information.

5. The computer program product of claim 4 wherein providing access comprises providing instructions for obtaining the information electronically.

6. The computer program product of claim 4 wherein providing access comprises providing an address on the World Wide Web where the information is located.

7. The computer program product of claim 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 wherein the information is sensitive information.

8. The computer program product of claim 7 wherein the information is compliance information.

9. The method of claim 1 or 2 wherein the method further comprises storing the received consent.
