Establishing directed communication based upon physical interaction between two devices
First Claim
1. A method for establishing communication with a device, the method comprising:
- detecting, at a first device, a physical interaction between the first device and a second device;
determining a network address usable for establishing communication between the first and second devices based on information derived from the detected physical interaction; and
providing for at least one of sending a message directed to the network address from the first device to the second device and assigning the network address to the first device for receiving a message directed to the network address.

Abstract
A method and system for establishing communication with a device is provided. Aspects of an exemplary embodiment include detecting, at a first device, a physical interaction between the first device and a second device; determining a network address usable for establishing communication between the first and second devices based on information derived from the detected physical interaction; and providing for at least one of sending a message directed to the network address from the first device to the second device and assigning the network address to the first device for receiving a message directed to the network address.

31. A system comprising:
-
a first device and a second device coupled to a network, wherein both the first device and the second device include means for generating a network address representative of the characteristics of a physical interaction detected between the first and second devices; and
a server coupled to the network and configured for;
receiving a message from the first device requesting assignment of the network address generated by the first device based on the physical interaction between the first and second devices;
assigning the generated network address to the first device;
receiving a message from the second device that includes a destination network address to which the message should be routed, wherein the destination network address is generated by the second device based on the physical interaction;
routing the message from the second device to first device using the destination network address. - View Dependent Claims (32)
