Abstract

This communicator makes it possible for the user to do telephone, facsimile, and data communication at any location. On a pen input device, a space eye 2, a telephone control system, a facsimile control system, and a data transmission system are mounted. All of them are operated by an input pen 55 or the space eye 2. The pen input device is connected to a wireless telephone equipment 7, and can be connected to a desired party through the public communication channel. In order to make the most of the equipment of a GPS user, the GPS user device 8 is connected to the pen input device 3. The current location of the GPS user is found through the GPS user device 8, and the data on the current location is transmitted to the party. Further, to make this communicator usable in any country, it is provided with means to connect it to a wireless telephone network of an individual service area of the country.

Claims

1. A portable wireless telephone apparatus comprising:

a wireless communications device that is capable of wireless connection to a communication channel and capable of conducting transmission or reception through the communication channel;

a CPU that is capable of outputting control commands to the wireless communication device, enter data from the communication channel through the wireless communication device, or transmit data to the communication channel through the wireless communication device;

a global positioning system receiver device that is capable of receiving a signal and determining position information based on the signal;

a map information reader device that is capable of processing map information and the position information and capable of creating a map based on a combination of the position information and the map information;

a display device that is capable of displaying the map created by the map information reader device; and

a navigator device that is capable of navigating a user by use of the position information received by the global positioning system receiver device and the map information processed by the map information reader device.

2. The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a transmission selector device that, when a destination is selected, is capable of conducting a transmission to the selected destination; and

a map information transmitter device that, during communication with the destination selected by the transmission selector device, is capable of reading map information relating to a map around position coordinates from previously registered map data based on the position information, and transmitting the map information to the destination.

The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a document data input device capable of inputting document data, wherein the display device is capable of superposingly displaying the map information processed by the map information reader device and the document data entered by the document data input device.

4. The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a first portion and a second portion of the display device which are capable of showing predetermined images sent by the CPU;

a reception determination device; and

a reception display device that is capable of displaying an indication of a reception status on the second portion of the display device when the reception determination device determines that the wireless communication device is searching for the reception status,

wherein the display device is capable of displaying the map on the first portion of the display device.

5. A portable wireless telephone apparatus comprising:

a wireless communication device that is capable of wirelessly connecting to a communication channel and is capable of sending a transmission or receiving a reception through the communication channel;

a CPU that is capable of outputting control commands to the wireless communication channel through the wireless communication device, is capable of entering data received from the communication channel through the wireless communication device, or is capable of transmitting data to the communication channel through the wireless communication device;

a global positioning system receiver device that is capable of receiving a signal and calculating position information based on the received signal;

a reply setting device that is capable of setting whether to accept a transmission request for the position information from another portable wireless telephone apparatus; and

a return information device that is capable of returning the position information upon receipt of the transmission request when the transmission request is set to be accepted by the reply setting device.

The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 5, wherein the reply setting device includes a flag setting unit capable of setting an automatic reply call flag when the transmission request includes an automatic reply call, and capable of accepting the transmission request when the flag is set by the flag setting unit.

7. The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising:

a transmission selector service that, when a destination is selected, is capable of conducting a transmission to the selected destination; and

a map information transmitter device that, during communication with the destination selected by the transmission selector device, is capable of reading map information relating to a map around position coordinates from previously determined map data based on the position information, and transmitting the map information to the destination.

8. The portable wireless telephone apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising;

a display having a first portion and a second portion that show images sent by the CPU;

a reception determination device that is capable of determining a reception status, wherein the display is capable of showing the reception status on the second portion; and

a map information display device that is capable of reading map information relating to a map around position coordinates from the previously registered map data based on the position information, and displaying the read map information on the first portion.

9. A portable wireless apparatus comprising:

a wireless communication device that is configured to wirelessly connect to a communication channel and conduct transmission or reception through the communication channel;

a CPU that is configured to output control commands to the wireless communication device, enter data from the communication channel through the wireless communication device, and transmit data to the communication channel through the wireless communication device;

a global positioning system receiver device that is configured to receive a signal and determine position information based on the received signal;

a map information reader device that is configured to process map information, the position information, and target position information, and is capable of creating a map based on a combination of the position information, the target position information, and the map information; and

a display device that is configured to display the map created by the map information reader device.

10. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the map information reader device is configured to generate map information based on stored map data.

11. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the map information reader device is configured to generate map information based on data from a remote database.

12. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein a present position is determined and shown on the display device based on the position information, and wherein a target position is calculated and shown on the display device based on the target position information.

13. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 12, wherein the map includes a guide route from the present position to the target position.

14. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the guide route is shown on the display device as a line.

15. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the guide route is determined based on a shortest distance between the present position and the target position.

16. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 13, wherein if the guide route is not taken, the map information reader device is capable of determining an alternative guide route based on a shortest distance between the present position and the target position for showing on the display.

17. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein a plurality of target positions are determined and shown on the display device based on the target position information.

18. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 17, wherein the map includes a guide route from a present position to the plurality of target positions.

19. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the map information includes a plurality of appellations.

20. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the plurality of appellations includes at least one of a police station, a post office, a university, a park, a business, a religious institution, a hospital, and a public transportation facility.

21. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the display device includes a touch screen display that includes an input frame, further wherein data is capable of being entered into the input frame using an input pen and the data is able to be transmitted using the wireless communication device.

35. A portable wireless apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the wireless communication device is able to connect to a communicator center, further wherein the communication center includes a storage member for storing the map information.

36. A portable wireless apparatus according to claim 35, wherein the communicator center includes a retrieval member capable of retrieving the map information from the storage member in response to a request from said wireless communication device.

37. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 36, wherein the communicator center includes a transmission member capable of transmitting the map information to the wireless communication device for processing by the map information reader device.

38. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 37, wherein the communicator center includes an order process member capable of processing requests based on order information sent from the wireless communication device.

39. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 35, wherein wireless communication device includes an instruction input member capable of instructing the communication center to provide the target position information.

40. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 39, wherein the wireless communication device includes a communication member capable of transmitting the target position information to the communication center.

41. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 40, wherein the communication member is capable of transmitting identification information of the wireless communication device to the communication center.

42. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 41, wherein the communication center includes a memory member capable of storing route information created based on the target position information and the position information.

43. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 42, wherein the communication center includes a retrieval member capable of retrieving the route information.

44. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 43, wherein the communication center includes a transmission member capable of transmitting the route information to the wireless communication device.

45. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 44, wherein the display device is capable of showing the route information.

22. A portable wireless apparatus comprising:

a wireless communication device that is configured to wirelessly connect to a communication channel and conduct transmission or reception through the communication channel;

a CPU that is configured to output control commands to the wireless communication device, enter data from the communication channel through the wireless communication device, and transmit data to the communication channel through the wireless communication device;

a global positioning system receiver device that is configured to receive a signal and calculate position information based on the received signal;

a map information reader device that is configured to process map information, the position information, and target position information, and create a map based on a combination of the position information, the target position information and the map information;

a display device that is configured to display the map created by the map information reader device; and

a voice guide device capable of announcing information related to the map.

23. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes regional name data.

24. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes a distance from a public facility.

25. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 24, wherein the public facility includes at least one of a police station, a post office, a university, a park, hospital, and a public transportation facility.

26. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes directions from a current position calculated from the position information to a public facility.

27. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes a distance from a current position calculated from the position information to a road.

28. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes directions to a road.

29. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the information on the map includes directions from a current position calculated from the position information to the target position.

30. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the map information reader device is configured to generate map information based on stored map data.

31. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 22, wherein the map information reader device is configured to generate map information based on data from a remote database.

32. A portable wireless apparatus comprising:

a wireless communication device that is capable of wirelessly connecting to a communication channel and conduct transmission or reception through the communication channel;

a CPU that is configured to output control commands to the wireless communication device, process data entering from the communication channel through the wireless communication device, and transmit data to the communication channel through the wireless communication device;

a global positioning system receiver device that is configured to receive a signal and determine position information based on the received signal;

a display that includes an input frame, wherein user data is capable of being entered into the input frame using an input pen and the user data is able to be transmitted using the wireless communication device, further wherein the user data includes package data relating to a package to be delivered.

33. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 32, wherein the user data is transmitted to a remote database.

34. The portable wireless apparatus according to claim 32, wherein the package data includes at least one of an address, a package collection route or a designated time.
