Abstract

Systems and methods for configurable trading interfaces that allow a trader to quickly and easily submit trading commands to a trading system are provided. Using these systems and methods, a trader can using various trading interfaces to initiate trading commands, configure various display features and default command settings, and control a level of command entry verification that is provided to protect against inadvertent entry of incorrect trading commands.

Claims

1. A computer readable memory having computer readable code therein that, when executed by a computer, causes the computer to:

display a first interface, the interface comprising a plurality of selectable trading commands for trading at least one item;

in response to the selection of at least one of the trading commands, display a second interface comprising a first button for confirming the selected trading command and at least one second button for submitting another of a plurality of trading commands; and

in response to the selection of one of the first and second buttons, submit the trade command associated with the selected button to an electronic trade system for execution.

2. The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein the computer readable code further causes the system to, in response to the selection of at least one of the trading commands comprised by the first interface, position a pointing device pointer over one of the buttons comprised by the second interface associated with the selected trading command.

The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein the computer readable code further causes the system to, in response to selection of the one of the plurality of trading commands comprised by the first interface, display at least one of a bid variable and an offer variable associated with the at least one item.

4. The computer readable memory of claim 3, wherein the at least one of the bid and offer variable is initially displayed in a first color, and is displayed in a second color when the pointing device pointer is placed over it.

5. The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein the plurality of trading commands includes a bid command and an offer command, the first button is associated with the bid command, and the second button is associated with the offer command.

6. The computer readable memory of claim 3, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a market cell.

7. The computer readable memory of claim 6, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a spread sheet.

8. The computer readable memory of claim 6, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a data window.

9. The computer readable memory of claim 6, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in an entry window.

10. The computer readable memory of claim 6, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a web page.

11. The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein the first interface is a command line interface, and selection of one of the plurality of trading commands comprises a keyboard entry of the trading command.

12. The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein selection of the one of the plurality of trading commands comprises selection using a pointing device.

13. The computer readable memory of claim 1, wherein:

the plurality of selectable trading commands of the first interface comprise at least one of a bid price, a bid size, an offer price and an offer size, and the second interface comprises at least one of a price field and a size field; and

a bid price is posted in said price field when a bid price is selected in the first interface, a bid size is posted in said size field when a bid size is selected in the first interface, an office price is posted in said price field when an offer price is selected in the first interface, and an offer size is posted in said offer field when an offer size is selected in the first interface.

14. The computer readable memory of claim 13, wherein at least one of the price field and the size field is alterable.

15. A computer-implemented method of receiving a trading command for execution in an electronic trading system, the method comprising:

displaying a first interface, the interface comprising a plurality of selectable trading commands for trading at least one item;

in response to the selection of at least one of the trading commands, displaying a second interface comprising a first button for confirming the selected trading command and at least one second button for submitting another of a plurality of trading commands; and

in response to the selection of one of the first and second buttons, submitting the trade command associated with the selected button to an electronic trade system for execution.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, further comprising, in response to the selection of at least one of the one of the trading commands comprised by the first interface, positioning a pointing device pointer over one of the buttons comprised by the second interface associated with the selected trading command.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, further comprising, in response to selection of the one of the plurality of trading commands comprised by the first interface, displaying at least one of a bid variable and an offer variable associated with the at least one item.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, further comprising initially displaying the at least one of the bid and offer variable in a first color, and displaying it in a second color when the pointing device pointer is placed over it.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, wherein the plurality of trading commands include a bid command and an offer command, the first button is associated with the bid command and the second button is associated with the offer command.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a market cell.

21. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a spread sheet.

22. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a data window.

23. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are is displayed in an entry window.

24. The computer-implemented method of claim 17, wherein the bid variable and offer variable are displayed in a web page.

25. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, wherein the first interface is a command line interface, and selection of one of the plurality of trading commands comprises a keyboard entry of the trading command.

26. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, wherein selection of the one of the plurality of trading commands comprises selection using a pointing device.

27. The computer-implemented method of claim 15, wherein:

the plurality of selectable trading commands of the first interface comprise at least one of a bid price, a bid size, an offer price and an offer size, and the second interface comprises at least one of a price field and a size field; and

a bid price is posted in said price field when a bid price is selected in the first interface, a bid size is posted in said size field when a bid size is selected in the first interface, an office price is posted in said price field when an offer price is selected in the first interface, and an offer size is posted in said offer field when an offer size is selected in the first interface.

28. The computer-implemented method of claim 27, wherein at least one of the price field and the size field is alterable.
