Abstract

The invention is directed to methods for the treatment of wounds. Such methods utilize novel compositions, including but not limited to amnion-derived multipotent cells (herein referred to as AMP cells), conditioned media derived therefrom (herein referred to as amnion-derived cellular cytokine suspension or ACCS), cell lysates derived therefrom, cell products derived therefrom, each alone or in combination.

Claims

1. A method for promoting accelerated wound healing in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compositions comprising ECS cells, conditioned media derived therefrom, cell lysate derived therefrom or cell products derived therefrom.

6. The method of claim 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 wherein the ECS cells are AMP cells.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the AMP cells are pooled AMP cells.

8. The method of claim 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 wherein the conditioned media is ACCS.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the ACCS is pooled ACCS.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the wound is a congenital wound or an acquired wound.

11. The method of claim 10 wherein the congenital wound is epidermolysis or scalp aplasia.

12. The method of claim 10 wherein the acquired wound is an acute wound or a chronic wound.

13. The method of claim 12 wherein the acute wound is trauma or a surgical incision.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the trauma wound is a burn, open fracture or avulsion.

15. The method of claim 12 wherein the chronic wound is a pressure ulcer, venous ulcer, diabetic ulcer, sickle cell ulcer or peptic ulcer.

2. A method for increasing the tensile strength and breaking strength of a healing wound in a patient in need thereof comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compositions comprising ECS cells, conditioned media derived therefrom, cell lysate derived therefrom or cell products derived therefrom.

A method for stimulating growth or regeneration of epidermal cells in a patient in need thereof comprising contacting the patient'"'"'s epidermal cells with a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compositions comprising ECS cells, conditioned media derived therefrom, cell lysate derived therefrom or cell products derived therefrom.

4. A method for inhibiting fibrosis and collagen contraction in a patient in need thereof comprising contacting the patient'"'"'s wound with a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compositions comprising ECS cells, conditioned media derived therefrom, cell lysate derived therefrom or cell products derived therefrom.

5. A method to reduce the occurrence of tissue scarring and adhesion formation during the wound healing process after surgery which comprises applying to the surgical site a therapeutically effective amount of one or more compositions comprising ECS cells, conditioned media derived therefrom, cell lysate derived therefrom or cell products derived therefrom.

16. The method of claim 5 wherein the applying of AMP cells and/or ACCS to the surgical site occurs prior to the surgical procedure, during the surgical procedure or after the surgical procedure.

17. A cosmetic preparation comprising one or more compositions comprising AMP cells, ACCS, AMP cell lysates or AMP cell products.
