Catheter syringe conveyor with a needle guard housing
First Claim
1. A catheter syringe conveyor with a needle guard housing, comprising:
- a catheter syringe which comprises at least a needle attached in fluid communication to a blood receptacle;
a catheter removably disposed over said needle;
a housing comprising a substantially rigid and transparent wall structure shaped to frame a slot through which said syringe may be maneuvered, said housing being sized to be held within the grasp of a technician'"'"'s hand, said housing comprising a top end and a bottom end, said housing further comprising an aperture cut out near said bottom end, providing a space through which said catheter may be grasped by said technician during a catheter insertion procedure; and
a stabilizer for stabilizing said housing against the skin of a patient during said catheter insertion procedure.

Abstract
A catheter syringe conveyor with a needle guard housing is adapted for facilitating the insertion of a catheter into a targeted blood vessel. A catheter syringe is slidably situated within the slot of housing, allowing the technician to maneuver the syringe up and down within the housing. A blood vessel stabilizer, having a pair of stabilizer fingers, is attached to the bottom of the housing and holds the blood vessel in place while the syringe is maneuvered within the stabilized housing. After the blood vessel is penetrated by the needle of the syringe, the technician maneuvers a catheter pusher to lower the catheter into the blood vessel. After the catheter is inserted, the technician is able to slide the syringe back up within the housing, to move the needle within the protective walls of the housing for safety; a syringe lock holds the syringe there for safekeeping

21. A catheter syringe conveyor with a needle guard housing, comprising:
-
a catheter syringe which comprises at least a needle attached in fluid communication to a blood receptacle; a catheter removably disposed over said needle; a housing comprising a substantially rigid and transparent wall structure shaped to frame a slot through which said syringe may be maneuvered, said housing being sized to be held within the grasp of a technician'"'"'s hand, said housing comprising a top end and a bottom end, with an aperture cut out near said bottom end, to provide a space through which said catheter may be grasped by said technician during a catheter insertion procedure; a stabilizer for stabilizing said housing and a targeted blood vessel of a patient during a catheter insertion procedure, said stabilizer comprising a base and a pair of stabilizer fingers emanating from said base, each stabilizer finger comprising a bottom surface which contacts the skin of said patient on each side of said blood vessel during said catheter insertion procedure, said base being connected to said bottom end of said housing so that said slot positions said needle of said syringe to enter into said blood vessel between said stabilizer fingers; and a syringe arm connected to said syringe, said syringe arm projecting out from within said housing to allow said technician to urge said syringe up and down within said housing slot. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23)

24. Method for inserting a catheter into a blood vessel using a catheter syringe conveyor with a needle guard housing, comprising the steps of:
-
pressing the bottom surface the stabilizer fingers of said catheter syringe conveyor down over a targeted blood vessel, to hold said blood vessel in place for the insertion of a needle and catheter into said blood vessel; maneuvering the syringe, on which said catheter is situated, down within the slot of said housing until the needle of said syringe penetrates said blood vessel, to obtain access to said blood vessel for the insertion of said catheter therein; and maneuvering the catheter pusher of said catheter syringe conveyor to lower said catheter off of said needle and into said blood vessel, to insert said catheter sufficiently within said blood vessel. - View Dependent Claims (25)
