Abstract

A throttle control system for a vehicle includes a suspension sensor that detects suspension amplitudes of a suspension system of the vehicle, a grade sensor that detects an angular position of the vehicle, and a controller that receives first operational data from the suspension sensor and second operational data from the grade sensor and regulates a throttle of the vehicle based on the first and second operational data.

Claims

1. A throttle control system for a vehicle, the throttle control system comprising:

a suspension sensor operable to detect suspension amplitudes of a suspension system of the vehicle;

a grade sensor operable to detect an angular position of the vehicle; and

a controller receiving first operational data from said suspension sensor and second operational data from said grade sensor and controlling a throttle of the vehicle based on said first operational data and said second operation data.

2. The throttle control system of claim 1, further comprising a speed sensor associated with a non-driven wheel of the vehicle.

3. The throttle control system of claim 2, wherein said speed sensor provides a signal to said controller indicative of a speed of said non-driven wheel.

4. The throttle control system of claim 3, wherein said controller uses said received speed signal from said speed sensor in controlling said throttle.

5. The throttle control system of claim 1, further comprising a brake system having a series of brakes associated with wheels of the vehicle.

6. The throttle control system of claim 5, wherein said brake system is an anti-lock brake system selectively supplying pulsations to said brakes at a predetermined duty cycle based on driving conditions.

7. The throttle control system of claim 6, wherein said duty cycle is supplied to said controller.

8. The throttle control system of claim 6, wherein said duty cycle is used by said controller in controlling said throttle.

9. The throttle control system of claim 1, further comprising a roll sensor in communication with said controller and operable to detect a tilt of the vehicle.

10. A throttle control system for a vehicle, the throttle control system comprising:

a traction-control system selectively controller a speed of the vehicle by applying a force to at least one of a plurality of wheels of the vehicle at a predetermined duty cycle; and

a control in communication with said traction-control system and operable to control a throttle of the vehicle based on said duty cycle.

11. The throttle control system of claim 10, further comprising a first sensor in communication with said controller and supplying said controller with first operational data indicative of an operating parameter of the vehicle.

12. The throttle control system of claim 11, wherein said first sensor is a speed sensor and said first operational data is a speed of a non-driven wheel of the vehicle.

13. The throttle control system of claim 10, wherein said traction-control system is a brake system having a series of brakes respectively associated with at least one of said plurality of wheels of the vehicle.

14. The throttle control system of claim 13, wherein said brake system is an anti-lock brake system selectively supplying pulsations to said brakes at said predetermined duty cycle based on driving conditions.

15. The throttle control system of claim 10, further comprising a second sensor providing second operational data regarding performance of the vehicle to said controller for use by said controller in controlling said throttle.

16. The throttle control system of claim 15, wherein said second sensor is a grade sensor.

17. The throttle control system of claim 15, wherein said second sensor is a suspension sensor.

18. The throttle control system of claim 10, wherein said controller is in communication with a drive controller and controls said throttle based on a position of said drive controller.

19. The throttle control system of claim 18, wherein the vehicle is operated in one of a two-wheel drive mode, a four-wheel drive high mode, and a four-wheel drive low mode based on a position of said drive controller.

20. The throttle control system of claim 10, further comprising a roll sensor in communication with said controller and operable to detect a tilt of the vehicle.
