Abstract

A communication device comprises processing means, storage means for storing a database of language components, display means and user interface means. The processing means is arranged to determine at least one qualifier, to access the database, and to select at least one language component according to the at least one determined qualifier, and the display means is arranged to display the at least selected language component. A user can select a displayed language component, and this can be outputted as an audio or wireless signal.

Claims

1. A communication device comprising processing means and storage means for storing a database of language components, wherein the processing means is arranged to determine at least one qualifier, to access the database, and to select at least one language component according to the at least one determined qualifier.

2. A device according to claim 1, and further comprising display means, the display means being arranged to display the selected at least one language component.

3. A device according to claim 2, and further comprising location determining means, the processing means being arranged to define the at least one qualifier according to the output of the location determining means.

4. A device according to claim 2, and further comprising a clock, the processing means being arranged to define the at least one qualifier according to the output of the clock.

5. A device according to claim 2, and further comprising audio output means, the audio output means arranged to output an audio signal corresponding to the selected at least one language component.

6. A device according to claim 2, and further comprising wireless transmitting means, the wireless transmitting means arranged to output a wireless signal corresponding to the selected at least one language component.

7. A device according to claim 2, wherein the processing means is further arranged, when selecting a plurality of language components, with means to order the plurality of language components according to at least one predetermined parameter.

8. A method for execution by a communication device, the method comprising:

determining at least one qualifier;

accessing a database of language components; and

selecting at least one language component according to the at least one determined qualifier.

9. A method according to claim 8, further comprising displaying the selected at least one language component.

10. A method according to claim 9, further comprising:

receiving location information at the communications device; and

defining the at least one qualifier according to the location information.

11. A method according to claim 9, further comprising:

receiving time information at the communications device; and

defining the at least one qualifier according to the time information.

12. A method according to claim 9, further comprising:

receiving a user input corresponding to a specific displayed language component; and

outputting an audio signal corresponding to the specific displayed language component.

13. A method according to claim 9, further comprising:

receiving a user input corresponding to a specific displayed language component; and

outputting a wireless signal corresponding to the specific displayed language component.

14. A method according to claim 8, further comprising, when selecting a plurality of language components ordering the selected plurality of language components according to at least one predetermined parameter.

15. A computer program product on a computer readable medium comprising computer instructions, the computer instructions when executed by a communications device perform a method comprising:

determining at least one qualifier;

accessing a database of language components; and

selecting at least one language component according to the at least one determined qualifier.

16. A computer program product according to claim 15, and further comprising computer instructions for displaying the selected at least one language component.

17. A computer program product according to claim 16, and further comprising computer instructions for receiving location information at the communications device, and defining the at least one qualifier according to the location information.

18. A computer program product according to claim 16, and further comprising computer instructions for receiving time information at the communications device, and defining the at least one qualifier according to the time information.

19. A computer program product according to claim 16, and further comprising computer instructions for receiving a user input corresponding to a specific displayed language component and for outputting an audio signal corresponding to the specific language component.

20. A computer program product according to claim 16, and further comprising computer instructions for receiving a user input corresponding to a specific displayed language component and for outputting a wireless signal corresponding to the specific language component and when selecting a plurality of language components ordering the selected plurality of language components according to at least one predetermined parameter.
