- a base configured to be secured about an entry portal in a surface, the base defining an access lumen and having at least one channel in a top surface thereof;
a first slide slidable withhin the channel of the base; and
a second slide slidable withhin the channel of the base, wherein the first and second slides are configured to be slid toward each other to substantially cover the access lumen and grip the instrument in a closed position and release the instrument in an open position.

passing an instrument at least partially through an access lumen in the immobilizing device; and
