SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANAGING INFORMATION RELATING TO MEDICAL FLUIDS AND CONTAINERS THEREFOR
First Claim
1. A system for tracking data relating to a container and use of a radiopharmaceutical therein in a procedure with respect to a patient, the container having a data tag operable to have data written to and read from the data tag, the system comprising:
- a filling station operable to fill the container with the radiopharmaceutical and comprising a first electromagnetic device operable to write data to the data tag relating to one of the radiopharmaceutical and the container;
a packaging station operable to place the container in a radiopharmaceutical pig and comprising a second electromagnetic device operable to write data to the data tag relating to one of the radiopharmaceutical, the container and the pig;
a calibration station comprising a third electromagnetic device operable to write data to the data tag relating to radioactivity level of the radiopharmaceutical in the container;
a treatment room adapted to receive the radiopharmaceutical pig and comprising a fourth electromagnetic device operable to write data to the data tag relating to injection of the radiopharmaceutical into the patient; and
a disposal station comprising a fifth electromagnetic device operable to write data to the data tag relating to disposal of the container.

Abstract
The present invention relates to management of information relating to medical fluids, containers therefor, and medical fluid administration devices for administering such medical fluids to patients. Data tags (e.g., RFID tags) are generally associated with containers of the invention and may be electromagnetically read from and/or written to using an electromagnetic device, for example, that may be associated with a medical fluid administration device of the invention.

5. A method for tracking data relating to a container and use of a radiopharmaceutical therein in a procedure with respect to a patient, the container having a data tag operable to have data written to and read from the data tag, the method comprising:
-
writing data to the data tag with a first electromagnetic device, the data relating to filling the container with the radiopharmaceutical by a filling station;
writing data to the data tag using a second electromagnetic device, the data relating to placing the container in a radiopharmaceutical pig by a packaging station;
writing data to the data tag using a third electromagnetic device, the data relating to the radioactivity level of the radiopharmaceutical in the container as determined by a calibration station;
writing data to the data tag using a fourth electromagnetic device, the data relating to an injection of the radiopharmaceutical into the patient; and
writing data to the data tag using a fifth electromagnetic device, the data relating to disposal of the container at a disposal station. - View Dependent Claims (6, 7, 8)
