Abstract

According to some embodiments, systems, methods, apparatus, computer program code and means are provided to encode data in a text message and to send the text message to a mobile device associated with a user.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a medium storing instructions adapted to be executed by the processor to perform a method, the method comprising;

encoding data in a text message; and

sending the text message to a mobile device associated with a user,

wherein the use of the encoded data maximizes of the amount of information transmitted in the text message.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the mobile device includes a graphical user interface and a client application to:

decode the encoded text message; and

display the decoded text message.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the data is selected based on preference information associated with the user

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the preference information includes commodity trading preferences including an indication of a commodity, an indication of an exchange, and a market price for the commodity, wherein the market price is determined by the exchange.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the data is further selected based on a location of the user.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the encoded data contains at least an indication of a commodity in a short form, an indication of an exchange in a short form, and a market price of the commodity.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the text message is one of a short message service text message and an unstructured supplementary service data message.

8. The system of claim 5, wherein the location is determined by at least one of the following:

analyzing a subscription pattern of weather and market content;

examining a user profile, wherein the user profile contains at least one of an address, a mobile phone number, and an area code;

triangulating signals from a plurality of telecom towers;

locating the latitude and longitude of the user by a global positioning system.

9. The system of claim 4, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

an indication of a second commodity; and

a second market price of the second commodity,

wherein the second market price is determined by the exchange.

10. The system of claim 4, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

a second market price for the commodity, wherein the second market price is determined by a second exchange.

11. The system of claim 3, wherein the data contains at least one of a news headline and weather information selected at least in part based on the preferences information.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the market price is separated from the one of a news headline and weather information by a delimiter.

13. A method comprising:

encoding data in a text message; and

sending the text message to a mobile device associated with a user,

wherein the use of the encoded data maximizes of the amount of information transmitted in the text message.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the mobile device includes a graphical user interface and a client application to:

decode the encoded text message; and

display the decoded text message.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the encoded data contains at least an indication of a commodity in a short form, an indication of an exchange in a short form, and a market price of the commodity.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the text message is one of a short message service text message and an unstructured supplementary service data message.

17. The method of claim 13, wherein the data is selected based on preferences information associated with the user.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the preference information includes commodity trading preferences including an indication of a commodity, an indication of an exchange, and a market price for the commodity, wherein the market price is determined by the exchange.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the data is further selected based on a location of the user.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the location is determined by at least one of the following:

analyzing a subscription pattern of weather and market content;

examining a user profile, wherein the user profile contains at least one of an address, a mobile phone number, and an area code;

triangulating signals from a plurality of telecom towers;

locating the latitude and longitude of the user by a global positioning system.

21. The method of claim 18, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

an indication of a second commodity; and

a second market price of the second commodity,

wherein the second market price is determined by the exchange.

22. The method of claim 18, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

a second market price for the commodity, wherein the second market price is determined by a second exchange.

23. The method of claim 15, wherein the encoded data further contains at least one of a news headline and weather information.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the market price is separated from the one of a news headline and weather information by a delimiter.

25. A method comprising:

receiving an encoded text message on a mobile device associated with a user;

decoding the encoded text message; and

displaying the decoded data contained in the message on the mobile device.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein the mobile device includes a graphical user interface and a client application to:

decode the encoded text message; and

display the decoded text message.

27. The method of claim 25, wherein the encoded data contains at least one of an indication of a commodity in a short form, an indication of an exchange in a short form, and a market price of the commodity.

28. The method of claim 25, wherein the text message is one of a short message service text message and an unstructured supplementary service data message.

29. The method of claim 25, wherein the data is selected based on preferences information associated with the user.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein the preference information includes commodity trading preferences including an indication of a commodity, an indication of an exchange, and a market price for the commodity, wherein the market price is determined by the exchange.

31. The method of claim 29, wherein the data is further selected based on a location of the user.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the location is determined by at least one of the following:

analyzing a subscription pattern of weather and market content;

examining a user profile, wherein the user profile contains at least one of an address, a mobile phone number, and an area code;

triangulating signals from a plurality of telecom towers;

locating the latitude and longitude of the user by a global positioning system.

33. The method of claim 30, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

an indication of a second commodity; and

a second market price of the second commodity,

wherein the second market price is determined by the exchange.

34. The method of claim 30, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

a second market price for the commodity, wherein the second market price is determined by a second exchange.

35. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a medium storing instructions adapted to be executed by the processor to perform a method, the method comprising;

encoding data in a text message; and

sending the text message from a mobile device associated with a user, wherein the use of the encoded data maximizes of the amount of information transmitted in the text message.

36. The system of claim 35, wherein the mobile device includes a graphical user interface and a client application to:

decode the encoded text message; and

display the decoded text message.

37. The system of claim 35, wherein the data is preference information associated with the user.

38. The system of claim 37, wherein the preference information includes commodity trading preferences including an indication of a commodity, an indication of an exchange, and a market price for the commodity.

39. The system of claim 37, wherein the preference information includes a location of the user.

40. The system of claim 35, wherein the encoded data contains at least an indication of a commodity in a short form, an indication of an exchange in a short form, and a market price of the commodity.

41. The system of claim 35, wherein the text message is one of a short message service text message and an unstructured supplementary service data message.

42. The system of claim 38, wherein the commodity trading preferences further include:

an indication of a second commodity; and

a second market price of the second commodity.
