Abstract

A method for queuing data for an application server is described. The method includes creating a queue entry record corresponding to the data, storing a queue entry including the data and the corresponding queue entry record in a queue, and receiving a command regarding the data from the application server.

Claims

1. A system for queuing data for an application server comprising:

a set of instructions operable to receive a command and the data from the application server;

a set of instructions operable to create a queue entry record corresponding to the data;

a set of instructions operable to store a queue entry comprising the data and the corresponding queue entry record in a queue; and

a set of instructions operable to query the queue entry.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the system further comprises a set of instructions operable to update the status record.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the system further comprises a set of instructions operable to retrieve a status value in the status record and return the status value to the application server.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising a set of instructions operable to retrieve the data from the queue entry and transmit the data to the application server.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising a set of instructions operable to delete the queue entry.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising a set of instructions operable to convert the data to a file before storing the queue entry.

7. The system of claim 6, further comprising a set of instructions operable to retrieve the file from the queue entry and to convert the file to the data.

8. An application server comprising:

a set of instructions operable to transmit data to a queuing system for the data.

9. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to request the data from the queuing system.

10. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to query the status of the data in the queuing system.

11. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to update the status of the data in the queuing system.

12. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to request deletion of the data in the queuing system.

13. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to receive the data from an external system.

14. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to request the data from the queuing system and to process the data through a workflow module.

15. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to store the data in the queuing system after being processed through a workflow module.

16. The application server, as set forth in claim 8, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to store the data in the queuing system when the data cannot be transmitted to an external system.

17. The application server, as set forth in claim 16, further comprising:

a set of instructions operable to attempt to resend the data to the external system after the application server receives an error message indicating that the data cannot be transmitted to the external system during a previous attempt.

18. A method for queuing data for an application server, comprising:

creating a queue entry record corresponding to the data;

storing a queue entry comprising the data and the corresponding queue entry record in a queue; and

receiving a command regarding the data from the application server.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the method further comprises receiving a command to update the status record.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the method further comprises retrieving a status value in the status record and returning the status value to the application server.

21. The method of claim 18, further comprising retrieving the data from the queue entry and transmitting the data to the application server.

22. The method of claim 18, further comprising receiving a command to delete the queue entry.

23. The method of claim 18, further comprising converting the data to a file before storing the queue entry.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising retrieving the file from the queue entry and converting the file to the data.

35. A computer program product comprising:

instructions to implement the method of claim 18.

36. A data signal comprising:

instructions to implement the method of claim 18.

25. A method for queuing data for an application server comprising:

transmitting the data to a queuing system.

26. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

requesting the data from the queuing system.

27. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

querying the status of the data in the queuing system.

28. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

transmitting a command to update the status of the data in the queuing system.

29. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

requesting deletion of the data in the queuing system.

30. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

receiving the data from an external system.

31. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

requesting the data from the queuing system and processing the data through a workflow module.

32. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

storing the data in the queuing system after the data is processed through a workflow module.

33. The method, as set forth in claim 25, further comprising:

storing the data in the queuing system when the data cannot be transmitted to an external system.

34. The method, as set forth in claim 33, further comprising:

attempting to resend the data to the external system after the application server receives an error message indicating that the data cannot be transmitted to the external system during a previous attempt.

37. A computer program product comprising:

instructions to implement the method of claim 25.

39. An apparatus for queuing data for an application server, comprising:

means for creating a queue entry record corresponding to the data;

means for storing a queue entry comprising the data and the corresponding queue entry record in a queue; and

means for receiving a command regarding the data from the application server.

40. The apparatus of claim 39, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the apparatus further comprises means for receiving a command to update the status record.

41. The apparatus of claim 39, wherein the queue entry further comprises a status record, and the apparatus further comprises means for retrieving a status value in the status record and returning the status value to the application server.

42. The apparatus of claim 39, further comprising means for retrieving the data from the queue entry and transmitting the data to the application server.

43. The apparatus of claim 39, further comprising means for receiving a command to delete the queue entry.

44. The apparatus of claim 39, further comprising means for converting the data to a file before storing the queue entry.

45. The apparatus of claim 44, further comprising means for retrieving the file from the queue entry and converting the file to the data.

46. An apparatus for queuing data for an application server comprising:

means for transmitting the data to a queuing system.

means for requesting the data from the queuing system.

48. The apparatus, as set forth in claim 46, further comprising:

means for querying the status of the data in the queuing system.

49. The apparatus, as set forth in claim 46, further comprising:

56. A data structure for queuing data for an application server, comprising:

a file containing a data object;

a queue entry record comprising;

the processing status of the data object; and

a reference identifier for the data object.

57. The data structure, as set forth in claim 56, further comprising:

one or more additional fields that can be used for other information regarding the application server or the data object.
