1. A retransmission method based on automatic repeat request (ARQ) in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the method comprising the steps of:
- at a receiver;
executing cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for data received from a transmitter, for every transmit antenna of the transmitter; and
transmitting to the transmitter feedback information of acknowledgment (ACK) or negative acknowledgement (NACK) based on a result of the cyclic redundancy check; and
at the transmitter;
identifying a data stream that requires retransmission based on the feedback information; and
selecting a retransmission mode for data of the feedback information of negative acknowledgment, wherein the step of selecting retransmission mode comprises one of;
(a) a mode of transmitting data for retransmission using the same antenna as previous transmission and simultaneously transmitting new data using an antenna without a data retransmission request;
(b) a mode of transmitting data for retransmission using the antenna without retransmission request and simultaneously transmitting new data using an other antenna;
(c) a mode of retransmitting data using a space-time block coding (STBC), which is a spatial diversity technique, using the antenna without retransmission request; and
(d) a mode of retransmitting data using a space-time block coding (STBC) using all available antennas.

Abstract
An automatic retransmission request control system in OFDM-MIMO communication system. In this system, an ACK/NACK output part (320) of a receiver transmits, to a transmitter, a feedback information of positive or negative response based on the result of a cyclic redundancy check. An error data stream decision part (310) of the transmitter determines, based on the feedback information, a data stream that need be retransmitted, and a retransmission mode selection part (312) selects a retransmission mode from among (a) a mode in which to transmit the data, which are to be retransmitted, via the same antenna as in the previous transmission, while transmitting, at the same time, new data by use of an antenna via which no data retransmission is requested; (b) a mode in which to transmit the data, which are to be retransmitted, via an antenna via which no retransmission is requested, while transmitting new data via another antenna at the same time; (c) a mode in which to use STBC to retransmit the data via an antenna via which no retransmission is requested; and (d) a mode in which to use STBC to retransmit the data via all the available antennas.

a CRC processing section that executes cyclic redundancy check (CRC) for data received from a transmitter for every transmit antenna of the transmitter; and
an ACK/NACK output section that sends to the transmitter feedback information of acknowledgement (ACK) or no-acknowledgment (NACK) based on a result of the cyclic redundancy check; and
the transmitter comprises;
an error data stream detecting section that identifies a data stream that requires retransmission based on the feedback information; and
a retransmission mode selecting section that selects a retransmission mode for retransmitting data of feedback information of negative acknowledgment; and
the retransmission mode selecting section selects one of;
(a) a mode of transmitting data for retransmission using the same antenna as previous transmission and simultaneously transmitting new data using an antenna without a data retransmission request;
(b) a mode of transmitting data for retransmission using the antenna without retransmission request and simultaneously transmitting new data using an other antenna;
(c) a mode of retransmitting data using a space-time block coding (STBC), which is a spatial diversity technique, using the antenna without retransmission request; and
