Abstract
Methods and systems for advertising, and specifically, for creating and maintaining an attention marketplace are disclosed. In the attention marketplace, users are paid a price for paying attention to an advertisement, are presented with the advertisement, and are compensated according to the specified attention price if they paid attention to the advertisement. The attention price is either specified by the user or determined for the user based on user attributes, the nature of the advertisement, and the desires of the marketer and marketplace operator.
