Abstract

In one embodiment, the methods and apparatuses detect a plurality of targets; select one of the plurality of targets as a selected target; detect a profile associated with the selected target; and display information associated with the selected target, wherein the information is referenced in the profile associated with the selected target.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

detecting a plurality of targets;

selecting one of the plurality of targets as a selected target;

detecting a profile associated with the selected target; and

displaying information associated with the selected target, wherein the information is referenced in the profile associated with the selected target.

2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the target represents one of a computer, a telephone, a personal digital assistant, a pager, and a person.

3. The method according to claim 1 wherein the plurality of targets represents a listing associated with an instant message application.

4. The method according to claim 1 further comprising viewing the plurality of targets that are accessible.

5. The method according to claim 1 further comprising sharing the information with the selected target.

6. The method according to claim 1 wherein the information includes one of a document, a spreadsheet, a graphic, an audio signal, a task, and a calendar entry.

7. The method according to claim 1 further comprising collecting the information from multiple sources.

8. The method according to claim 7 wherein each of the multiple sources include one of a CRM database, a document management system, and an electronic mail application.

9. The method according to claim 1 further comprising editing the information and forming edited information wherein the information is stored in multiple sources.

10. The method according to claim 9 further comprising storing the edited information in each respective source corresponding with the edited information.

11. A method comprising:

selecting a target as a selected target;

detecting a profile associated with the selected target;

displaying information associated with the selected target to an initiating device, wherein the information is referenced in the profile associated with the selected target; and

selectively sharing the information with the selected target.

12. The method according to claim 11 wherein the target represents one of a computer, a telephone, a personal digital assistant, a pager, and a person.

13. The method according to claim 11 wherein the target represents a listing associated with an instant message application.

14. The method according to claim 11 wherein the information includes one of a document, a spreadsheet, a graphic, an audio signal, a task, and a calendar entry.

15. The method according to claim 11 further comprising collecting the information from multiple sources.

16. The method according to claim 15 wherein each of the multiple sources include one of a CRM database, a document management system, and an electronic mail application.

17. The method according to claim 11 further comprising editing the information and forming edited information wherein the information is stored in multiple sources.

18. The method according to claim 17 further comprising storing the edited information in each respective source corresponding with the edited information.

19. A system, comprising:

a profile manager module configured to track a profile wherein the profile includes a representation of information that corresponds to a target and wherein the information is located within multiple sources; and

an interface module configured to display the information corresponding to the target.

20. The system according to claim 19 further comprising a storage module configured to store the profile.

21. The system according to claim 19 wherein the interface module is further configured to display the information to the target.
