1. A display, comprising:
- an array of pixels, each pixel comprising a set of primary colored individually controllable lights;
a controller configured to control an intensity of light emitted from each controllable light so as to modulate light emitted from the array of pixels;
a dimming panel configured to further modulate the light emitted from the array of pixels;
wherein a resolution of the controller'"'"'s modulation and a resolution of the dimming panel'"'"'s modulation are different.

Abstract
A display has a screen which incorporates a light modulator. The screen may be a front projection screen or a rear-projection screen. The screen is illuminated with light from a light source comprising an array of controllable light-emitters. The controllable-emitters and elements of the light modulator may be controlled to adjust the intensity of light emanating from corresponding areas on the screen. The display may provide a high dynamic range.
