Abstract

A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a session-based service system is disclosed. The method is variously performed according to a proxy mode or a non-proxy mode, and further according to which SLP (SUPL location platform) has a positioning procedure.

Claims

1. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

receiving a SESSION START message to start a trigger session from a roaming SET by a first server;

requesting and obtaining area ids of a specific area for an area event triggered positioning from a second server by the first server;

sending a SESSION RESPONSE message to the SET;

receiving a POS INIT message from the SET, and sending it to the second server; and

receiving a calculated position estimate of the SET from the second server, and sending it to the SET; and

receiving a SESSION END message from the SET, and sending it to the second server.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first server sends the area ids obtained from the second server to the SET through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the trigger parameter comprises at least one of a change_area type and position values of the specific area related to the area event triggered positioning.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the area ids represent one of ids of cells that belong to an event area, mobile country codes (MCC), mobile network codes (MNC), location area codes (LAC), and primary scrambling code numbers.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the first server uses a proxy mode, and the second server has a positioning function.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first server is an H-SLP, and the second server is a V-SLP.

9. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

receiving a SESSION START message to start a trigger session from a roaming SET by a first server;

requesting and obtaining area ids of a specific area for an area event triggered positioning from a second server by the first server;

sending a SESSION RESPONSE message to the SET;

receiving a POS INIT message from the SET;

performing a positioning procedure with the SET by the first server, and sending a calculated position estimate of the SET to the SET; and

receiving a SESSION END message from the SET.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first server sends the area ids obtained from the second server to the SET through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein the trigger parameter comprises at least one of a change_area type and position values of the specific area related to the area event triggered positioning.

14. The method of claim 9, wherein the area ids represent one of ids of cells that belong to an event area, mobile country codes (MCC), mobile network codes (MNC), location area codes (LAC), and primary scrambling code numbers.

15. The method of claim 9, wherein the first server uses a proxy mode and has a positioning function to calculate a position estimate of the SET.

16. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

sending a SESSION START message to start a trigger session to a first server by a roaming SET;

receiving a SESSION RESPONSE message from the first server;

sending a POS INIT message to the first server;

receiving a calculated position estimate of the SET from the first server;

checking if a trigger condition is met by comparing the calculated position estimate with position values of an event area; and

if the trigger condition is met, providing the calculated position estimate by the SET to its agent.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the SET receives the area ids from the first server through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the area ids are obtained from the second server by the first server.

19. The method of claim 17, wherein the area ids represent one of ids of cells, mobile country codes (MCC), mobile network codes (MNC), location area codes (LAC), and primary scrambling code numbers, that belong to the event area.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein if a first condition is met by comparing a current area id of the SET with the received area ids, the POS INIT message is sent to the first server by the SET.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein if a change_area type related to an event area triggered positioning indicates that the SET is verified to enter to the event area or to stay at the event area, the POS INIT message is sent to the first server when at least one of the received area ids is consistent with the current area id.

22. The method of claim 17, wherein if a change area type related to an event area triggered positioning indicates that the SET is verified to leave the event area, the POS INIT message is sent to the first server when any one of the received area ids are not consistent with the current area id.

23. The method of claim 16, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

25. The method of claim 23, wherein the trigger parameters comprise at least a change-area type for an area event triggered positioning or position values of the event area.

26. The method of claim 16, wherein the first, server uses a proxy mode.

27. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

receiving a SESSION START message to start a trigger session from a roaming SET by a first server;

requesting and obtaining area ids of an event area by the first server from a third server through a second server;

sending a SESSION RESPONSE message including at least parameters regarding a security session establishment and an address of the third server to the SET by the first server; and

receiving a SESSION END message from the third server by the first server.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein the first server sends the obtained area ids to the SET through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

29. The method of claim 27, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

31. The method of claim 29, wherein the trigger parameters comprise at least a change-area type for an area event triggered positioning or position values of the area event.

32. The method of claim 27, wherein a security session is established between the SET and the third server by using the parameters regarding the security session establishment included in the SESSION RESPONSE message, and the security session is a session for a positioning procedure between the SET and the third server.

33. The method of claim 27, wherein the first server is an H-SLC, the second server is a V-SLC, and the third server is a V-SPC.

34. The method of claim 27, wherein the first server uses a non-proxy mode, and the third server performs a lateral positioning function.

35. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

sending a SESSION START message to start a trigger session to a first server by a roaming SET;

receiving from the first server a SESSION RESPONSE message including at least parameters regarding a security session and an address of a second server;

sending a POS INIT message to the second server by the SET;

performing a positioning procedure by the SET by establishing a security session with the second server by using the parameters;

receiving a calculated position estimate of the SET from the second server;

checking by the SET if an area event trigger condition has been met by comparing the received calculated position estimate with position values of an event area; and

if the area event trigger condition is met, providing the calculated position estimate by the SET to its agent.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein the SET receives the area ids from the first server through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

37. The method of claim 36, wherein the area ids are obtained by the first server from the second server through the third server, and are provided to the SET.

38. The method of claim 37, wherein the first server is an H-SLC, the second server is a V-SPC, and the third server is a V-SLC.

39. The method of claim 36, wherein the area ids are obtained from the third server by the first server thus to be provided to the SET.

40. The method of claim 39, wherein the first server is an H-SLC, the second server is a H-SPC, and the third server is a V-SLC.

41. The method of claim 35, wherein if a first condition is met by comparing a current area id of the SET with the received area ids, the POS INIT message is sent to the second server by the SET.

42. The method of claim 35, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

43. The method of claim 42, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

44. The method of claim 42, wherein the trigger parameters comprise at least one of a change_area type related to an area event triggered positioning and the position values of the event area.

45. A SET-initiated area event triggered positioning method in a mobile communication system, comprising:

receiving a SESSION START message to start a trigger session from a SET by a first server;

requesting and obtaining area ids of an event area from a second server by the first server;

sending a SESSION RESPONSE message including at least parameters regarding a security session establishment and an address of the third server to the SET by the first server; and

receiving a SESSION END message from the SET through the third server by the first server.

46. The method of claim 45, wherein the first server sends the obtained area ids to the SET through the SESSION RESPONSE message.

47. The method of claim 45, wherein the SESSION START message comprises at least trigger type information and trigger parameters.

48. The method of claim 47, wherein the trigger type information has an area event trigger type.

49. The method of claim 47, wherein the trigger parameter comprises at least one of a change_area type related to an area event triggered positioning and position values of the area event.

50. The method of claim 47, wherein a security session is established between the SET and the third server by using the parameters about the security session establishment, and the security session is a session for a positioning procedure between the SET and the third server.

51. The method of claim 47, wherein the first server is an H-SLC, the second server is a V-SLC, and the third server is an H-SPC.
