8. A method of reducing or eliminating glistenings in an intraocular lens, comprising:

providing an intraocular lens comprising a polymer or polymer blend having an equilibrium water content of from about 1 wt % to about 12 wt % at about 37°
C.;contacting the intraocular lens with isotonic saline solution at a temperature of about 20°
C. to about 90°
C. for from about 1 hour to about 36 hours;sterilizing the intraocular lens while maintaining it at its equilibrium water content; and
