1. A portable device for collecting a measurement of an object and transmitting the measurement and other information related to the object comprising:
- a first communication module for receiving a first wireless signal that corresponds to a measurement of a dimension of the object;
a memory for storing the measurement derived from the first wireless signal in association with an object identifier; and
a second communication module for transmitting a second wireless signal that corresponds to the measurement of the object and the objection identifier.
