Abstract
The present invention teaches a method of manufacturing an enclosed transceiver, such as a radio frequency identification (“RFID”) tag. Structurally, in one embodiment, the tag comprises an integrated circuit (IC) chip, and an RF antenna mounted on a thin film substrate powered by a thin film battery. A variety of antenna geometries are compatible with the above tag construction. These include monopole antennas, dipole antennas, dual dipole antennas, a combination of dipole and loop antennas. Further, in another embodiment, the antennas are positioned either within the plane of the thin film battery or superjacent to the thin film battery.

2. A method for routing baggage, comprising:
-
receiving baggage to be transported;
printing visible information on a label including information selected from the group of owner'"'"'s name, carrier, flight number, origin, destination, weight, size, unique ID number, and combinations thereof, the label further comprising an RFID tag comprising a flexible layer, one or more dipole antennas, and a radio frequency transceiver integrated circuit coupled to the antenna with a non-volatile memory for storing and retrieving data, the label being less than ten thousandths of an inch thick in the thickest portion;
transmitting radio frequency signals to the RFID tag comprising data for storage in the memory, the data including information selected from the group of owner'"'"'s name, carrier, flight number, origin, destination, weight, size, unique ID number, and combinations thereof;
affixing the label and the RFID tag to the baggage;
transmitting to the RFID tag an interrogatory signal using radio frequency signals to communicate a command to retrieve and send data previously stored in the memory; and
