Abstract

An interface directs a user to build a website. A first interface element directs the user to create an account. A second interface element directs the user to create a home page. A third interface element directs the user to create a directory. A fourth interface element directs the user to create at least one site page. A designator indicates to the user at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements to select in order to build the website.

Claims

1. An interface for directing a user to build a website, the interface comprising:

a first interface element for directing the user to create an account;

a second interface element for directing the user to create a home page;

a third interface element for directing the user to create a directory;

a fourth interface element for directing the user to create at least one site page; and

a designator for indicating to the user at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements to select in order to build the website.

2. The interface of claim 1, further comprising a fifth interface element for directing the user to edit the website.

3. The interface of claim 1, wherein the first interface element directs the user to enter user information.

4. The interface of claim 3, wherein the first interface element directs the user to enter a domain name for the website.

5. The interface of claim 1, wherein second interface element directs the user to choose a page type.

6. The interface of claim 1, wherein the third interface element directs the user to enter page listings.

7. The interface of claim 1, wherein the fourth interface element directs the user to choose at least one page type.

8. The interface of claim 1, wherein the designator surrounds at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements.

9. The interface of claim 8, wherein the interface includes a background color and wherein the designator comprises a color different from the background color.

10. The interface of claim 1, wherein the designator includes instructions for directing the user to select at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements in order to build the website.

11. A method for guiding a user through a process of building a website using an interface, the method comprising:

directing the user to select a first interface element to create an account;

directing the user to select a second interface element to create a home page;

directing the user to select a third interface element to create a directory;

directing the user to select a fourth interface element to create at least one site page; and

indicating to the user an order in which to select the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising providing a designator on the interface for indicating to the user the order in which to select the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the step of providing a designator further comprises surrounding at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements in a shape comprising a color different from a background color of the interface.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the step of providing a designator further comprises providing instructions indicating to the user the order in which to select the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements.

15. The method of claim 11, further comprising directing the user to select a fifth interface element to edit the website.

16. The method of 11, further comprising:

directing the user to enter user information;

directing the user to enter a domain name for the website;

directing the user to choose a page type; and

directing the user to enter page listings.

17. A computer readable storage medium on which is embedded one or more computer programs, the one or more computer programs implementing a method for directing a user to build a website, the one or more computer programs comprising a set of instructions for:

directing the user to select a first interface element to create an account;

directing the user to select a second interface element to create a home page;

directing the user to select a third interface element to create a directory;

directing the user to select a fourth interface element to create at least one site page; and

indicating to the user an order in which to select the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements.

18. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 17, said one or more computer programs further comprising a set of instructions for providing a designator on the interface for indicating to the user the order in which to select the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements, wherein the designator surrounds at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth interface elements in a shape and comprises a color different from a background color of the interface.

19. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 17, said one or more computer programs further comprising a set of instructions for directing the user to select a fifth interface element to edit the website.

20. The computer readable storage medium according to claim 17, said one or more computer programs further comprising a set of instructions for:

directing the user to enter user information;

directing the user to enter a domain name for the website;

directing the user to choose a page type; and

directing the user to enter page listings.
