Abstract

Disclosed is an electrical motor.

Claims

1. An electrical motor, comprising:

at least two in-line stators.

at least two in-line rotors cooperative with the at least two in-line stators; and

a common shaft, the at least two in-line rotors being mountable to the common shaft, the common shaft including a hollow shaft,

the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors being available as standard off-the-shelf components, so as to permit cost reduction.

2. The electrical motor of claim 1, further comprising:

at least two in-line rotors cooperative with the at least two in-line stators.

3. The electrical motor of claim 1, further comprising:

a rotor cooperative with the at least two in-line stators.

4. The electrical motor of claim 2, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft.

5. The electrical motor of claim 2, wherein the at least two in-line stators, and the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, the common shaft includes a hollow shaft.

6. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein the at least two in-line stators include:

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator.

7. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein the at least two in-line rotors include:

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor.

8. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors are operatively couplable to and controllable by a drive-controller.

9. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor,

the first stator and the first rotor are operatively couplable to and controllable by a first drive-controller,

the second stator and the second rotor are operatively couplable to and controllable by a second drive-controller.

10. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

and angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by a position encoder connectable via a belt to the hollow shaft.

11. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by the at least two in-line stators.

12. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by any one of the at least two in-line stators.

13. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor,

angular position of any one of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by any one of the first stator, the second stator and any combination and permutation thereof.

14. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators are mountable to a common housing.

15. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators are coolable by a cooling circuit.

16. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor, the first rotor is cooperative with the first stator, and the second rotor is cooperative with the second stator.

17. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

the first stator, the first rotor, the second stator and the second rotor are concurrently energizable at least in part.

18. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part while the second stator and the second rotor remain energizable at least in part.

19. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

during acceleration of the hollow shaft, the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors remain energizable at least in part.

20. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

during de-acceleration of the hollow shaft, the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part.

21. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

during de-acceleration of the hollow shaft, the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part while the second stator and the second rotor remain energizable at least in part.

22. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein;

during de-acceleration of the hollow shaft, the first stator and the first rotor act to brake at least in part acceleration of the hollow shaft.

23. The electrical motor of claim 16, wherein:

during de-acceleration of the hollow shaft, the first stator and the first rotor act to regeneratively brake at least in part acceleration of the hollow shaft.

47. The electrical motor of claim 12, wherein:

during acceleration of the hollow shaft, the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors are configured to any one of;

remain energizable at least in part,

be de-energizable at least in part,

be de-energizable at least in part while the second stator and the second rotor remain energizable at least in part,

act to brake at least in part acceleration of the hollow shaft, and

act to regeneratively brake at least in part acceleration of the hollow shaft.

48. The electrical motor of claim 1, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator, and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor.

24. An electrical motor, comprising:

at least two in-line rotors.

25. The electrical motor of claim 24, further comprising:

at least two in-line stators cooperative with the at least two in-line rotors.

26. The electrical motor of claim 24, further comprising:

a stator cooperative with the at least two in-line rotors.

27. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft.

28. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line stators, and the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, the common shaft includes a hollow shaft.

29. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line rotors include:

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first rotor.

30. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line rotors include:

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator.

31. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors are operatively couplable to and controllable by a drive-controller.

32. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor,

the first stator and the first rotor are operatively couplable to and controllable by a first drive-controller,

the second stator and the second rotor are operatively couplable to and controllable by a second drive-controller.

33. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, and angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by a position encoder connectable via a belt to a common shaft.

34. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by the stator.

35. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein angular position of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by any one of the at least two in-line stators.

36. The electrical motor motor of claim 25, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor; and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor,

angular position of any one of the at least two in-line rotors is monitorable by measurement of variations in current consumed by any one of the first stator, the second stator and any combination and permutation thereof.

37. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line stators are mountable to a common housing.

38. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein the at least two in-line stators are coolable by a cooling circuit.

39. The electrical motor of claim 25, wherein:

the at least two in-line stators include;

a first stator; and

a second stator offset from the first stator; and

the at least two in-line rotors include;

a first rotor, and

a second rotor offset from the first rotor, the first rotor is cooperative with the first stator, and the second rotor is cooperative with the second stator.

40. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein the first stator, the first rotor, the second stator and the second rotor are concurrently energizable at least in part.

41. The electrical motor off claim 39, wherein the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part while the second stator and the second rotor remain energizable at least in part.

42. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft,

and during acceleration of the common shaft, the at least two in-line stators and the at least two in-line rotors remain energizable at least in part.

43. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, and de-acceleration of the common shaft, the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part.

44. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, and during de-acceleration of the common shaft, the first stator and the first rotor are de-energizable at least in part while the second stator and the second rotor remain energizable at least in part.

45. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, and during de-acceleration of the common shaft, the first stator and the first rotor act to brake at least in part acceleration of the common shaft.

46. The electrical motor of claim 39, wherein the at least two in-line rotors are mountable to a common shaft, and during de-acceleration of the common shaft, the first stator and the first rotor act to regeneratively brake at least in part acceleration of the common shaft.
