(a) combining a secondary organometallic compound and methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl, (b) introducing the combination from (a) into a fuel, and (c) causing the fuel from (b) to be combusted in the combustion system; wherein the combustion system is chosen from utility and industrial burners, boilers, furnaces, and incinerators.
