Abstract

A method and system for in-vivo sensing may transmit data that may identify or relate to the sensing device or a component within the device. The data that may identify the sensing device and the sensing data may be transmitted separately or in combination, for example, in a data block. The data that may identify or relate to the sensing device may be received, recorded, displayed, processed or used in any suitable way, for example, to verify, access or select compatible in-vivo sensing system components.

Claims

1. A method for in-vivo sensing comprising:

capturing image data in an in-vivo imaging device; and

transmitting identification data relating to the device from the device to a reception system.

2. The method of claim 1 comprising transmitting data during one transmission period, wherein the data comprises:

the image data; and

the identification data.

3. The method of claim 1 comprising transmitting a data block, wherein the data block comprises:

the image data; and

the identification data.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the identification data indicates the completion of the transmission of image data corresponding to an image frame.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification data comprises data indicating a geographical region.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification data comprises data indicating an area of the body where the sensing device is intended to be used.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification data comprises a unique identifier for the device.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the identification data comprises a version number associated with the device.

9. The method of claim 1 comprising:

receiving the identification data; and

activating software based on the identification data.

10. The method of claim 9 comprising determining if the identification data matches data in the software.

11. An in-vivo imaging system comprising:

an imaging capsule, the imaging capsule transmitting imaging data and identification data; and

a processing system to accept the imaging data and the identification data and to alter the operation of the processing system based on the identification data.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the identification data comprises a version number.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the identification data describes the type of the capsule.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the processing system downloads the imaging information and identification information from a reception system.

15. The system of claim 11, wherein the processing system is to activate software based on the identification data.

16. A method for in-vivo sensing comprising:

accepting identification data transmitted from an in-vivo sensing device;

retrieving requirement data; and

determining whether or not at least a portion of the identification data and the requirement data substantially match.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein if at least a portion of the identification data and the requirement data are determined to match, activating software.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the software comprises the requirement data.

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the identification data comprises an electronic signature.
