Abstract

A system for optimizing usage of energy converting stages. It may have a stage driver, and stage driver adds as needed. The system may control the on-times of the stages according to a pattern that optimizes energy usage, processing and memory. The pattern may control the stages according to lead lag, rotating or runtime. The pattern may incorporate modulating. The system may be scalable and have a small memory footprint. The system may be implemented with function blocks of a function block engine. Network variables may be incorporated for input and output connections of the system.

Claims

1. A control system comprising:

a stage driver;

a stage number indicator connected to the stage driver; and

one or more stages connected to the stage driver; and

wherein the stage driver is for turning on and off the one or more stages according to a pattern.

14. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

one or more stage driver adds connected to the stage driver; and

wherein;

the stage driver is a function block of a function block engine; and

the one or more stage driver adds are function blocks of the function block engine.

2. The system of claim 2, wherein the stage driver comprises:

a first memory;

an allocator connected to the stage driver indicator and to the first memory; and

a stage activator connected to the first memory, the allocator and to the one or more stages; and

wherein the allocator provides an allocation of stages according to a number of stages indicated by the stage number indicator.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the stage driver further comprises a configuration memory connected to the allocator.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the allocator provide the pattern to the stage activator.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the stage activator is an interface between the allocator, the first memory the configuration memory and/or the one or more stages.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the stage activator is for turning on or off the one or more stages according to the pattern.

7. The system of claim 6, further comprising:

a second memory connected to the stage driver; and

one or more stage driver adds connected to the second memory and to the configuration memory.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the stage driver add comprises:

an accessor connected to the second memory;

a second configuration memory connected to the stage driver; and

a second stage activator connected to the accessor, the second configuration memory, and to the one or more stages.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the accessor is for obtaining stage status from the second memory and for driving the second stage activator.

10. The system of claim 9, further comprising a third memory for holding runtime of each stage connected to the allocator.

11. The system of claim 10, further comprising network variables in lieu of one or more connections between various components of the system.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the allocator operates according to first-on-last-off, first-on-first-off, or amount of runtime.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the allocator operates according to an on/off scheme with modulating.

15. A method for driving stages comprising:

obtaining a number of active stages information;

obtaining configuration information;

combining the number of active stages information and the configuration information to allocate a stage driving pattern; and

driving stages according to the pattern.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the pattern may comprise a lead lag, a rotating or a runtime scheme.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the pattern may comprise modulating and a lead lag, a rotating or a runtime scheme.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein a function block engine comprises function blocks for combining the number of active stages information and the configuration information to provide a stage driving pattern and for driving stages according to the pattern that optimizes energy conversion of the stages as a group/or optimizes usage of memory associated with the function blocks.

19. A resource stage rotation linking system comprising:

a stage driver function block for driving one or more stages; and

an input function block for providing a stage driving configuration strategy, connected to the stage driver function block.

20. The system of claim 19, further comprising a stage driver add function block connected to the stage driver function block.
