Abstract

When license information is transferred between a server machine and a client machine, an identifier which is unique to a series of communication sequences is provided. The identifier is sent when a communication is performed between the two machines, as well as when the license information is updated. Therefore, when a message for transferring the license information is received by the use of the same identifier, a response message is returned without updating the license information.

Claims

1. A license information exchange client device which exchanges license information with a server device via a communication network, the license information indicating details of a right, said license information exchange client device comprising:

a communication unique information generation unit operable to generate communication unique information for identifying a license information exchange communication carried out with the server device;

a communication unit operable to communicate with the server device; and

a request information generating unit operable to generate request information concerning the license information to be received from the server device; and

a data storing unit operable to store the generated communication unique information which is shared with the server device, at least until the license information is received from the server device, and the generated request information associated with the generated communication unique information,

wherein said data storing unit also stores client unique information for identifying said license information exchange client device, and

wherein said communication unit is operable to send the communication unique information, the client unique information and the request information to the server device, and receive the license information from the server device.

2. The license information exchange client device according to claim 1,

wherein said license information exchange client device is operable to delete the communication unique information and the request information from said data storing unit, when said communication unit receives the license information from the server device.

3. The license information exchange client device according to claim 2,

wherein, after the license information is received and the communication unique information and the request information are deleted from said data storing unit,

said communication unique information generating unit is operable to reuse the same communication unique information.

4. The license information exchange client device according to claim 2,

wherein, after the license information is received and the communication unique information and the request information are deleted from said data storing unit,

said license information exchange client device is operable to send a commit message to the server device via said communication unit in order to notify the server device that the server device is allowed to delete information relating to the communication unique information and the client unique information.

5. The license information exchange client device according to claim 4,

wherein said license information exchange client device is operable to send a commit message to the server device via said communication unit to notify the server device at one time that the server device is allowed to delete a plurality of pieces of information relating to the communication unique information and the client unique information.

6. The license information exchange client device according to claim 2,

wherein said license information exchange client device continues to send the same communication unique information and the request information without generating new communication unique information.
