Abstract

The invention relates to a device for either generating or maintaining an organic data network having an dynamic topology, comprising a data processing unit, at least one data connection to a data network to which several devices provided with a data processing unit are connected by means of a data connection, and software having a receiving routine for receiving data packages of at least one transmitting device in the data network, a transmission routine for transmitting data packages, received from the transmitting device or devices in the data network to at least one receiving device that is connected to the data network, independent of the transmitting device or devices. Additionally the invention relates to a method and software for data packages received from a transmitting device to at least one receiving device, independent of said transmitting device. A device according to the invention can be used in for instance mobile phones, streaming internet applications and cable television.

Claims

1. A wireless pocket computer system, comprising:

a pocket computer, configured to retrieve media content, output the media content to the pocket computer, and transmit the media content remotely over a wireless connection; and

one or more media players configured to receive media content over the wireless connection, wherein the media content is made ready for play-back and outputted to the pocket computer and to the one or more media players at the same time, because the media content is simultaneously made ready for play-back, outputted to the pocket computer and remotely transmitted over the wireless connection to the one or more media players, and then made ready for play-back and outputted to the one or more media players.

2. The wireless pocket computer system as recited in claim 1, wherein furthermore said pocket computer includes a media player.

3. A computer-readable medium having computer executable instructions for sharing streaming content consisting of data packages, between a media player receiving said content and one or more other media players requesting at least a part of said content, said computer executable instructions comprising:

receiving said content,

managing said content,

making said content ready for play-back,

passing the content made ready for play-back to a stream target,

receiving one or more requests for at least a part of said content from said one or more other media players, and

streaming, while performing at least part of the passing step, at least a part of said content to said one or more other media players.

4. The computer-readable medium of claim 3, wherein streaming at least a part of said content to said one or more other media players further comprises using one or more connections, each connection corresponding to a media player of said one or more other media players.

5. The computer-readable medium of claim 3, wherein receiving one or more requests for at least a part of said content from said one or more other media players further comprises receiving one or more specific requests for at least a part of said content from said one or more other media players.

6. A media player for receiving streaming content consisting of data packages and transmitting at least a part of said content to one or more other media players in a network, comprising:

a data processing unit that executes software having;

a receiving routine for receiving said content,

a management routine for managing said content,

a routine for making said content ready for processing and possible play-back and providing content made ready for play-back to a stream target,

a request handling routine for handling one or more requests for at least a part of said content received from one or more other media players in said network, and

a transmitting routine for streaming at least a part of said content to said one or more other media players in said network while providing at least a part of said content made ready for playback to the stream target.

The media player of claim 6, wherein streaming one or more data packages to said one or more other media players in said network further comprises streaming one or more data packages to said one or more other media players in said network, using one or more connections, each connection corresponding to one of said one or more media players.

The media player of claim 6, wherein one or more requests received from one or more other media players in said network for at least a part of said content further comprises one or more specific requests received from one or more other media players in said network for at least a part of said content.

9. The media player of claim 6, wherein receiving and transmitting occur simultaneously.

10. The media player of claim 6, wherein furthermore said media player is part of mobile communication equipment.

11. The media player of claim 6, wherein furthermore said media player is part of a pocket computer.

12. The media player of claim 6, wherein furthermore said streaming comprises wireless streaming.
