MODULAR KNEE PROSTHESIS
First Claim
1. A method of assembling a knee prosthesis for implantation into a patient, the method comprising:
- providing a plurality of posterior femoral joint components;
providing a distal posterior femoral joint component;
determining the ethnicity of the patient;
selecting one of the plurality of posterior femoral joint components based on the patient'"'"'s ethnicity;
assembling the selected one of the plurality of posterior femoral joint components and the distal posterior femoral joint component to form the knee prosthesis.

Abstract
A modular knee system having various distal posterior femoral components that are interchangeable with each other and with various patellar-femoral joint components. Preferably, the modular knee system has a variety of components that are interchangeable and connectable to resurface the distal femur using either a unicompartmental femoral knee prosthesis or a bicompartmental femoral knee prosthesis. These components include a medial distal posterior femoral component, a lateral distal posterior femoral component, a patellar-femoral joint component, and an interconnection mechanism to modularly connect the components together.
