1. A portable physiological measurement device including a first local display configured to communicate with a docking station including a second local display, the portable physiological measurement device comprising:
- a housing configured to physically and electrically mate with a docking station, the housing including a releasable coupling configured to be released using a single finger;
a first local display and a second local display in communication with the docking station;
a processor included in said housing capable of operating in a portable mode, said portable mode providing portable monitoring as a standalone patient monitor of one or more physiological parameters of a patient through communication with one or more noninvasive sensors, and capable of operating in a docked mode, said docked mode providing monitoring of one or more physiological parameters of a patient; and
an output configured to communicate with the docking station and the second local display.

6. A medical device capable of determining one or more physiological parameters of a patient and displaying indicia related to the physiological parameters in at least two orientations, the medical device comprising:

a processor configured to receive the output signal and determine display indicia indicative of the one or more physiological parameters of a patient being monitored; and

10. A method or orienting display indicia on a display with respect to a physiological monitoring instrument housing, the method comprising:

receiving a signal usable to determine one or more physiological parameters of a patient;
determining display indicia indicative of the one or more physiological parameters of a patient being monitored;
determining an orientation of the display indicia on a display with respect to a monitoring instrument housing;
