Abstract

Information that is no longer valid due to the passage of time is not provided to a user. When a stock price information server acquires updated stock price information from a securities market network, a message that instructs that a predetermined application be started up and to which a term of validity has been attached is sent to a user terminal over a paging channel via an SMS server. When the user terminal receives the message, it determines whether or not the message is within the term of validity, and if it determines that the message is within the term of validity, starts up the instructed application from among a plurality of applications that are stored. The stock price information server then sends to the user terminal the stock price information that is requested by the started up application.

22. A mobile communication terminal comprising:

a storage section that stores an access charge that is charged when an application accesses a network and an accumulated communication charge;

a receiving section that receives a message instructing that a specific application be started up; and

a control section that determines whether or not an accumulated communication charge will exceed an upper limit for the accumulated communication charge based on identification information of an application that is contained in the received message, on the accumulated communication charge in the storage section, and the access charge in the storage section.

23. The mobile communication terminal according to claim 22, wherein the control section starts up the application if the control section determines that the accumulated communication charge will not exceed the upper limit for the accumulated communication charge.

24. The mobile communication terminal according to claim 23, further comprising a notification section that notifies that the control section has not started up the application.

The mobile communication terminal according to claim 24, wherein the notification section is able to select whether or not to make a notification regarding an application startup, and if an application has not been started up because the accumulated communication charge will exceed the upper limit for the accumulated communication charge, the notification section makes the notification regardless of the selection.

26. The mobile communication terminal according to claim 22, further comprising a setting section by which a user sets the upper limit for the accumulated communication charge.

27. A program that executes on a computer:

a reception process that receives a message instructing that a specific application be started up; and

a determination process that determines whether or not an accumulated communication charge will exceed an upper limit for the accumulated communication charge based on identification information of an application that is contained in the received message, on the accumulated communication charge that is stored, and on information about a charge that is charged when the application accesses a network.

48. A computer readable recording medium which is recorded the program according to claim 27.
