- a data repository that stores transaction histories of each of a plurality of users, said transaction histories identifying particular items for which transaction were conducted by corresponding users;
an analysis component configured to analyze the transaction histories in an off-line processing mode to assess degrees to which particular items are related to each other, and to generate a mapping that maps particular items to related items, said mapping including data values that represent degrees to which particular items are related to each other; and
a recommendation engine configured to use the mapping, including said data values, to generate personalized item recommendations for users.
