Abstract

Uses media, for example audio, video or text performances that were integrated into an online community for feedback determinative of outcome, for digital distribution. Apportions compensation for a selected artist from revenue that may be generated through one or any combination of advertisement, services associated with artist'"'"'s performance, and media sales. The media may include singing, instrumental music, rhythmic music, videos, and writings.

Claims

1. A system for providing performance data to an online community for outcome determinative feedback comprising:

a media input device for recording performance data from an artist;

a data repository for storing said recorded performance data; and

,

a server configured to;

associate said performance data with a profile of said artist;

present said performance data to an online community having access to said performance data;

obtain feedback from at least one user with respect to said performance data;

determine a selected artist meeting a threshold value or condition;

offer service and revenue participation to said selected artist;

deliver content items associated with said selected artist and one or more advertisements to said online community;

calculate an advertisement score for a subsequent online community interaction with said content item associated with said selected artist, a performance download score for online community download of a performance data for sale of said selected artist, a referral score for user accounts established by members referred by said selected artist;

enable service process of providing one or more service to said popular artist; and

,

apportion revenue to said popular artist based on said advertisement score, said performance download score, and said referral score.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein said media input device comprises a telecommunications device or a computer configured to capture said performance data.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein said performance data comprises audio data that reflects a performance made by said artist using said media input device.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein said artist or said selected artist comprises an individual or a group of individuals.

5. The system of claim 1 further comprising an association module configured to obtain said performance data from said data repository and make said data available to a server system comprising said online community.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein said online community comprises an interface for making said performance data available as a media file.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein said media input device is used to create customized ring tones that are subsequently made available for purchase.

8. The system of claim 1 further comprising a ranking system for determining which of said performance data is popular with said online community.

9. The system of claim 1 further comprising a judging interface for at least one judge to score said performance data.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein said artist with a highest score is given one selected from the group consisting of record contract, TV contract, and movie contract.

11. The system of claim 1 configured to present an interface to said artist that permits said artist to search for other artists by specialty, genre and/or geographic location and review performance data submitted by said other artists and extend an invite start a band, join a band, or complete a band to said other artists in cases where said artist is interested in an audition of said other artist.

12. The system of claim 1 configured to present an interface to said artist that permits said artist to invite referrals.

13. The system of claim 1 wherein said service is one or more from the group consisting of media production, marketing, artist management, sponsorship, trading or distribution, touring, and licensing.

14. A computer program product comprising computer readable instruction code executing in a tangible memory medium of a computer, said computer readable instruction code configured to:

obtain performance data from an artist from a media input device;

provide said performance data to a server supporting an online community accessible via a global computer network;

post scoring information about said performance data provided by members of said online community;

determine a selected artist meeting a threshold of feedback condition or value;

offer service and revenue participation to said selected artist;

present said content items associated with said selected artist and one or more advertisements to said online community;

calculate an advertisement score for a subsequent online community interaction with said content item associated with said selected artist, a performance download score for online community downloading a performance data for sale of said selected artist, and a referral score for user accounts established by members referred by said selected artist;

enable service process of providing one or more service to said selected artist; and

,

apportion revenue to said selected artist based on said advertisement score, said performance download score, and said referral score.

15. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein said computer readable instruction code is further configured to inform an artist with a highest score of a reward.

16. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein said performance data comprises audio and/or video data.

17. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein a fee is charged for obtaining said performance data from said artist.

18. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein said reward comprises a recording, television or feature film contract.

19. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein said computer readable instruction code obtains input about said performance data from members of said community.

20. The computer program product of claim 19 wherein said input is used to rank or vote said performance data or said input comprises a rating by members of said community or a rating by at least one judge of said performance data.

21. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein said performance data comprises personalized ring tones that are generated by personal recording or calling a telephone number and recording a personal ring tone that is then uploaded to personal profile for download via said server.
