First Claim
1. An image display device formed by arranging, in a form of a matrix, unit panels on which sub-pixels emitting colors different from each other are formed, said image display device characterized in that:
- in a first pixel comprising first, second and third sub-pixels of different respective first, second, and third colors, the first sub-pixel at an edge portion of a unit panel is omitted, an adjacent sub-pixel emitting the first color in an adjacent pixel on an inner side is shared with the first pixel, and said adjacent sub-pixel emitting the first color is driven by time division, wherein each of the sub-pixels of the first pixel and the adjacent pixel lie in the same plane.

Abstract
The present invention relates to an image display device and a method of manufacturing the image display device that make it possible to form pixels with a smaller number of sub-pixels as compared with a case where one pixel is formed so as to separately include one each of sub-pixels of three colors of R, G, and B, and make full-color display by making the sub-pixels emit light by time division. The present invention can provide an image display device that makes it possible to reduce the number of sub-pixels and form pixels at a high density by sharing respective sub-pixels between pixels and displaying the sub-pixels by time division and thus realize high picture quality and reduction in the number of parts.

8. A method of manufacturing an image display device, said image display device having light emitting elements emitting different colors arranged in a form of a matrix, said method characterized by comprising:
-
a first transfer step for transferring said light emitting elements so as to bring said light emitting elements into a more widely spaced state than a state of said light emitting elements arranged on said first substrate, and making a temporary holding member hold said light emitting elements; and
a second transfer step for spacing said light emitting elements held by said temporary holding member more widely and transferring said light emitting elements onto said second substrate;
wherein at said second transfer step, said light emitting elements are detached from said temporary holding member by laser ablation by irradiation with laser light from an undersurface side of said temporary holding member and element suction by vacuum suction. - View Dependent Claims (9)

10. An image display device in which sub-pixels emitting colors different from each other are arranged in a form of a matrix and each pixel is formed by a plurality of sub-pixels, said image display device characterized in that:
-
first sub-pixels emitting a color of a highest visibility among said colors are arranged at a predetermined pitch and a second sub-pixel emitting another color is disposed between said first sub-pixels, wherein the second sub-pixel is driven with a predetermined timing; and
the image display device is adapted to drive a third sub-pixel in an adjacent pixel in place of the second sub-pixel with the predetermined timing of the second sub-pixel when said second sub-pixel does not emit the another color, the third sub-pixel having the same color as the second sub-pixel.
