Abstract

A glazing panel having beneficial anti-solar properties comprises a vitreous substrate carrying a tin/antimony oxide coating layer containing tin and antimony in a Sb/Sn molar ratio of from 0.01 to 0.14. In one application the coated substrate has a solar factor FS of less than 70% and the panel is formed by chemical vapor deposition from a reactant mixture comprising a source of tin and a source of antimony. In another application it is particularly suitable for use in vehicle glazing, in particular in vehicle roof windows, and the coated substrate has a spray-formed pyrolytic tin/antimony oxide coating having a thickness of at least 400 nm and, whereby the coated substrate has a luminous transmittance (TL) of less than 35% and a selectivity (TL/TE) of at least 1.3.

29. A glazing panel comprising a vitreous substrate carrying a tin/antimony oxide coating layer containing tin and antimony in a Sb/Sn molar ratio of from 0.01 to 0.5, the said coating layer having been pyrolytically formed by chemical vapor deposition, whereby the so-coated substrate has a solar factor (FS) of less than 70% and a luminous transmittance (TL) of less than 70%.

30. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.5.

31. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.05 to 0.5.

32. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.21.

33. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.15.

34. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.07.

35. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein at least one intermediate coating layer is positioned between the substrate and the tin/antimony oxide coating layer, the at least one intermediate coating layer being selected from the group consisting of a haze-reducing coating layer and an anti-reflection layer.

36. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein at least one intermediate coating layer is positioned between the substrate and the tin/antimony oxide coating layer, the at least one intermediate coating layer being comprised of one of SiO₂ and SiO_x.

37. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the solar factor is less than 60%.

38. A glazing panel according to claim 29, having a luminous transmittance of between 40 and 65%.

39. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the said tin/antimony oxide coating has a thickness of from 100 to 500 nm.

40. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating has a thickness of from 250 to 450 nm.

41. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating layer is an exposed coating layer.

42. A glazing panel according to claim 29, wherein the vitreous substrate is selected from the group consisting of a clear sheet of glass and a colored sheet of glass.

43. A glazing panel comprising a vitreous substrate carrying a tin/antimony oxide coating layer containing tin and antimony in a Sb/Sn molar ratio of from 0.03 to 0.5, the said coating layer having been pyrolytically formed by chemical vapor deposition, whereby the so-coated substrate has a solar factor (FS) of less than 70%.

44. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.05 to 0.5.

45. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.21.

46. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.15.

47. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.07.

48. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein at least one intermediate coating layer is positioned between the substrate and the tin/antimony oxide coating layer, the at least one intermediate coating layer being selected from the group consisting of a haze-reducing coating layer and an anti-reflection layer.

49. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein at least one intermediate coating layer is positioned between the substrate and the tin/antimony oxide coating layer, the at least one intermediate coating layer being comprised of one of SiO₂ and SiO_x.

50. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the solar factor is less than 60%.

51. A glazing panel according to claim 43, having a luminous transmittance (TL) of less than 70%.

52. A glazing panel according to claim 43, having a luminous transmittance of between 40 and 65%.

53. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the said tin/antimony oxide coating has a thickness of from 100 to 500 nm.

54. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating has a thickness of from 250 to 450 nm.

55. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating layer is an exposed coating layer.

56. A glazing panel according to claim 43, wherein the vitreous substrate is selected from the group consisting of a clear sheet of glass and a colored sheet of glass.

57. A glazing panel comprising a vitreous substrate carrying, in order, an intermediate haze-reducing coating layer and a tin/antimony oxide coating layer containing tin and antimony in a Sb/Sn molar ratio of from 0.03 to 0.15, the said tin/antimony oxide coating layer having been pyrolytically formed by chemical vapor deposition and having a thickness of from 100 to 470 nm, whereby the so-coated substrate has a solar factor (FS) of less than 70% and a luminous transmittance (TL) of less than 70%.

58. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the Sb/Sn molar ratio ranges from 0.03 to 0.07.

59. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the intermediate haze-reducing coating layer comprises one of SiO₂ and SiO_x.

60. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the solar factor is less than 60%.

61. A glazing panel according to claim 57, having a luminous transmittance of between 40 and 65%.

62. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating has a thickness of from 250 to 450 nm.

63. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the tin/antimony oxide coating layer is an exposed coating layer.

64. A glazing panel according to claim 57, wherein the vitreous substrate is selected from the group consisting of a clear sheet of glass and a colored sheet of glass.
