1. An orbital implant which is substantially spherical, and which includes a body of bioactive material having macropores of at least 400 μ

  • m as well as micropores smaller than 50 μ

    m, with some macropores being in communication with the outer surface of the body and with adjacent macropores being interconnected by openings and/or passageways so that open paths to the outer surface of the body are thereby provided, and a cap covering a portion of the body, the cap being of bioactive material having substantially no pores or only micropores smaller than 50 μ

    m, being thin relative to the diameter of the implant, and being embedded in the body.
